been using my clx for a couple of weeks now, but the top 2 sections dont seem to slide in and out like they used to, and the red coating is starting to wear already, loosing the glossy look, has anyone else had this with there clx's?

Mine is the same Lee - just over 2 weeks old too - spray each section with PTFE lubricant should help reduce initial wear.

have you sprayed yours with the ptfe stuff, dose it make it run in and out easier?

spray and wipe with wd40 does the job perfect!

It's called friction & is perfectly normal.

Clean the hose with a cloth as you coil it up to put it back in van after each job. This will help to stop grit getting inside the sections. Take the sections apart periodically & flush out with water.

I do not use the pole hose on my SLX, I have removed it and use my microbore as a pole hose and this seems to have helped with the jamming issues a lot.

i only have the pole hose 4" longer than the closed lenght, then my microbore gose up the inside when i extend it. i dont get aay problem with jamming, just doenst run as smoothly as it did

I don't have the clx, I have the slx instead but both are similar.  I take mine apart every now and then and give it a clean up wiping the pole sections down and rinsing the insides of each section out as well.  The pole works like new after this even though the shiny surface has scratched off and gone matted.  Occasionally I'll even give it a waxing down.  It only takes 10 minutes to strip the pole down clean it and put it back together but it's time well worth spent.

ive had mine a few months and i flush it out usually once a week by opening the section by a foot or so and aiming a hose pipe down the butt of the pole for a min or two.

i also clean the pole hose which seems to get a lot of grit on it in this cold damp weather with muddy gardens and footpaths.

im defo gonna try the old WD40 and give the whole sections a spray and wipedown.

Had mine since May, the first batch.
The red colour has worn away in a few places but very little wear generally. I use it every day for 95% of my work. I have the previous SLX, last year's model, and the wear on that it far greater, ie black hands and it only gets used a couple of times a week for the tall stuff.

I flush my CLX out regularily and the hose gets cleaned with a cloth throughout the day when the weather is wet.
Very happy with product.
The only niggles I have had are the clamps coming loose, quick fix with Araldite, and the clamp adjusters (bolts) loose and always needing adjustment - quick fix with a drop of locktite (not too much.)

I believe that the current SLX has the same laquer coating as the CLX which is definitely harder. Wish we could find out what it is. I have 2 SLX poles that could do with coating with it.

Not sure if I will go the CLX route again when this pole needs to be replaced or opt for the SLX of the same length as it is a bit stiffer than the CLX.
