Not today thanks ( The true costs)
« on: October 30, 2010, 06:16:05 pm »
I've just totted up my months earnings and found that I'm £250 down because of the "not today brigade"!!
Most were as above but some were because they were having work done. Though I had one yesterday asked me to come back next week because she was expecting someone around for dinner!!!
Anyone else in same situation?

Same here ??? I do obviously get some where there is a genuine reason i.e. building or painting work. That's fine & acceptable but I never get the "not today thank you" for any other reason.

In my experience, customers are more inclined to get peed off with a rigid 4 weekly clean, it's too soon for domestic IMO. 5 to 6 weeks gets no complaints.

School hoildays always give me a kickin. So many go away for the week and lock all the gates.
In the july holidays one Monday I was £70.down on that day. 1 £30 2 £15 and a £10 one.
Each month now when I forecast what's due to be done I knock 10% off that figure and then try to replace it and more with gutter/uvpc cleans.
Pain in the arse though.

Prowindow...this is the basis of my new t&c's...if might be of use to you in some way if not just ignore it ;)

On the day of the clean please ensure that all windows, vents are securely closed (sun scherm, rollouiken, horren are up/open) and that the agreed, safe access is provided. Failure to do so will result in these items not being cleaned and the agreed charge for the complete property will be levied.

Whilst we strive to clean your property on the 'scheduled' day it may from time to time be neccesary to change that day. We do clean in the rain, however, if we find it unsafe to continue or start work particulary during storms, thunder, lighting heavy snow/ice/rain we reserve the right to provide an alternative date for the clean. Our preffered method to contact you is via email. Please ensure that we have your correct and current contact details such a telephone, email address.

All outstanding balances must reach us within the agreed period, failure to do so will result in us contacting you for the outstanding payment. Each late payment request will incure an additional 5 euro administration cost which will be added to your outstanding balance.

Should your bill continue to be un-paid we may suspend your service. Upon resumption of our cleaning service we may charge you an additional fee to take into consideration the extra time and work required to get the windows and frames clean after the extended uncleaned period this can vary between 25% - 100% of the normal clean price.

We reserve the right to pass an outstanding balance to a 3rd party collection agency for resolution without notice.

We are no longer able to accomodate 'skip' requests because of holidays however we will work with you to arrange an alternative date for your clean.

Should you have building, maintanance works, painting etc performed on your property which causes in our opinion additional soiling we may charge an additional fee to remove this soiling to account for the addtional time and work required. This is particulry relevent to painting as our past experiance shows that after painting heavy soiling of greasy finger marks, afwashmiddle is very evident and time consuming to remove. Please note we do not use scrapers/blades or chemicals on your property. Concrete, cement, paint spots/strips will not be removed by us without prior agreement of additional work & costs.

All cancellations or changes to the scheduled date by yourself should be made at least 3 full working days in advance, this is to allow us to plan alternative work, failure to do so will result in the agreed cleaning charge being applied for that date.

Whilst we do not like to have these terms and conditions past experiances have caused us to provide clarity about the services we do & do not provide.

Cheers
Dave.

I've got more work than I can get through in the month. So if they do say that i just move on to the next job.

Secret then is to have too much work.

Of the £250 an old lady fell down and couldnt open gate £15 Then a £25 custie only came back from Cyprus this morning. A £14 one was just off out. There were 4 £15 custies away for half term (last week) Two £20 ones that were having painting work done and the woman that had friends round for dinner that makes £94 about 6 custies that for one reason or another wanted me to come back next week. I also gained £120 of new work this month so I'm up by £26. What the hell!!

JUST DONT COUNT YOUR CHICKENS BEFORE THEY HATCH!! ;) ;D ;D ;D

i also dont get many "not todays" unless its a genuine reason( building work or holidays).i just move on to the next due customer and dont give it a second thought!

this game is all about peaks and troughs and swings and roundabouts!

i just go with the flow.

the only time it used to annoy me was when i was up to my eyes in debt and struggling to pay my bills and putting food on the table.thankfully them days are behind me now. :D :D

What a long winded waste of paper; we do and always will work at our customers convenience whether we like to admit it or not.

Debt collection agencies, T+C, all a waste of time with domestic customers.

The best you can hope for is that they don't mess you around, pay on time and are genuinely pleased to see you each time, as most are.

Anything else, forget it. T+C mean absolutely nothing to any customer who wants to mess you around. Just dump them and replace them, easy. ::)
Come and talk dirty to us!!!

What works for you MLS might not work for me...I just want them to know what we do and do not do and your opinion on this matter makes no difference whatsoever to me.

Dave.

ps. your website link is dead..

I think it is in fact a reasonable set of terms to which at least the customers attention can be brought to even if theyre not enforced or are unenforceable (I dont know if they can be, but a verbal agreement is seen as legally binding as far as I know).

I dont know that I'd use all of them, they might be a little long-winded in places but probably good enough. I might put them on the rear of my 'NOW WE ARE USING WATER-FED POLES EXPLAINED' leaflet to customers ;D

How are you down on money?  ???

If someone doesn't have it done you do someone else surely?
Shouldn't mean you do any less work. ???

It aint fair at all, unless they getting paint work building work or a garden event, just tell them >>

how would you like it if you went to work today and your boss told you "not today thankyou"

normally they would let you continue and understand that they cant do that gosh £250 is alot! ,

Maybe try going 8 weekly makes them happy as hell and bump the price up by 10% thats what i did i hardly ever get anyone trying it on

I agree with this, if you are missing the money, do more canvassing!
This is the best time to do it as the "summer" mob have gone back to their warm homes and won't re-appear until spring

Going every 8 weeks just means that you've got to get double your custies. 95% of mine are monthly which is great for me. However from now now on "the not today next week brigade will be going into the remaining 5% that are either 6 weekly, 2 months or 3 months. Sorted!!!
