been having problems with my new metal van ports since had them fitted from plastic and a second pump to make it a two man system its an ionics system we fill the tank and even with the pumps not running im losing water thru the ports where we connect hose reels too, its comin out quite quickly enough to make a bit of a puddle in a short while

any ideas how to fix or remedy

are you saying they leak when there not in use or when they are being used?

sounds like they need tightening more,  put are they the hoselock connector ones?

we have this problem, i added inside the van before the ports connectors with the twist on and off switch, you know what i mean, so at night or after a refill turn them off.

fink i know what ya mean lee the plastic hoselock taps yeah fink il try that reckon iv lost half me tanks worth since 5 this evening and put in 500

Is the port lower than the top of the tank, gravity?
We have the same problem, fitted inside taps, problem cured.

thankgod im not alone - my van ports plastic ones dont think they r hoselock - forever leaking mainly from pump and drain port.

they r that bad that someone when id fleeted in and out of a shop thought i had a petrol leak owing to the amount puddling - reckon i lose at leat one/2 cleans from tank a week.

excellent sounding remedy re putting shut off valves on but id have to turn these valves on and off during the day between jobs as well as the leaking is very prone after use/after filling/when stopping vehicle - upto know i have turned flow switch on and off to equalise pressure which seems to work most of time but annoying none the less.

if theres anyone who doesnt have this problem without using additional valves what valves have u got on your outlet ports?

Nearly all the auto stop ends i have used no matter the make leak when not under pressure - metal ones are the worst i changed all mine to the combined hosedlock and tap style.

if theres anyone who doesnt have this problem without using additional valves what valves have u got on your outlet ports?

I have half inch hose going from my pumps to my van ports, my van ports consists of a Hozelock waterstop conector. Whilst i couldn't say i never get a drip i certainley don't lose water or have anything approaching a puddle. I have no probs with this setup.  Something i hadn't considered until reading this thread is that my pumps are mounted higher than my tank, maybe this makes a difference?

what i do is when finished i turn pump on full and this stops dripping

Put a plastic tap on the half inch hose before the outlet port, you can put one on each hose and just shut off the water flow between jobs and when your not working. You can buy these in plumb centres there very easy to connect up

Yeah, that wot I do too. I jump into the van after I see the puddle and switch on the pump full blast. Obviously with no connectors attached. You can hear the the pressure locking out the plastic bit of the valve as it increases. Switch off and that seems to be that.

I find when you do this the pressure drops after a while, so you will still have a puddle!
Ive put a ball valve just before the metal ports, close it when not in use, problem solved!!
