Printer Ink on wool rug

Been asked to clean a wool rug that has got a mark caused by a dropped computer ink cartridge,its about 5mm x10 cm lomg,only been in about 3 days - whats the chances of getting it out and any thoughts on what to use?

Is the ink liquid or powder? If powder do NOT use hot water!

I have cleaned two spills, both were water based inks and came out slowly using tepid water and a 3 inch tool. Worked the stains slowly.

isoproponal is what printers use to thin and clean up inks, you will find it very effective and a handy thing to have on the van. It is alchohol so mixes with water and can be used as a fast drying additive to your solution. Also an effective degreaser, its very fast evaporation leaves not residue and safe on very delicate fabrics.

What's the solvent that smells like pear drops?  I've forgotten its name, perhaps someone else knows (cue Doug!)

Anyway I've found that to be the only one that really shifts it.  Alcohol and acetone do OK but not perfect.

Polyprop = no problem, if it's on wool forget it I think!!

Wayne,
I'm going to arm you with the best piece of advice you will probably get....
Buy some cotton buds.
Then using them along with your tool box full of various spotters, dab and gently rub tiny areas of the problem with various spotters and buds. (incase confusion reigns leave the spotter by the spot you've worked on) Check the cotton buds to see which gives the best transfer and then you'll have you're answer as to which to use.

Stapro solvent cleaner in the tin is what you are thinking of Jim . Good stuff  ;D

Did this job today and used SpotX solvent spotter from cleansmart,everything came out.Really chuffed as Spot and stain removal is something I need experience of.

knowing the name of the solvent and buying it from chemical supplier will be far cheaper than buyingit from a cleaning distributor. Many solvent that I use I buy in 25 ltr drums as it works out so much  cheaper. As I have saidbeforesolvents are very use specific and Isopropanol  is the best you can get for a large amount of inks   of inks.
