12 weekly cleans
« on: October 16, 2010, 02:18:44 pm »
hi guys im amazed to hear so many on here that do fortnightly or 4weekly as thier lion share of customer types.

i have no fortnightly ones and mostly 6-8 weeks followed by 4 weekly and then 12 weekly.

even in a posh area they choose 12 weekly -without  getting into pricing which i know i have to look at the 12 weekly at a more premium than im currently doing.

is it possible that because i offer 12 weekly that they take it?
an example i recently quoted a house 12 quid 4 or 6 weekly and 16 quid for 8 weekly and 20 quid for 12 weekly ....they chose 12 weekly.

your advice would well helpful...thanks guys  ;)

i would prefer the 36 quid for cleaning it 3 times than 20 every 12 weeks. just seems logical. or am i daft ;)

I offer 4, 6 or 8 weekly cleans and im noticing that most of the newer ones i've taken on are going for 6 weekly. My ideal would be 4 weekly but I try to accomodate.
I have never offered a 12 weekly, but I would do them if someone asked but at a premium and that would be an exception rather than the rule.
I wouldn't offer it when canvassing because I only really want 4,6 or 8 weekly customers.
As Blue Monkey said if you are offering 12 weekly at that price the customer does the maths and knows they are saving money over the course of a year.
If you are happy with it keep offering 12 weekly but if you prefer 4,6,8 weekly customers only offer them that.

One in three of my customers pays 50% more for a 12-weekly rather than 6-weekly.

They are happy, as they pay less over the year and their windows stay clean enough.  I'm happy because I earn much more in a day.

Even at six weekly, people comment that their windows are still clean when I come back.  Air pollution is now so low in the UK that four weekly cleans will eventually go the way of the dodo, I suspect.

Joy all around.

Apart from our commercial clients, who range from daily to 8 weely cleans, probably 99% of our domestic work is 4 weekly.

Why anyone would want to move their customers from 4 weekly to 6 weekly totally baffles me as you then need more work to fill in the gaps ??? ??? ???.

When I had too much work for myself I employed someone, simple; but I certainly didn't move customers to 6 weekly - total madness :-\ :-\ :-\

I don't think it is a north south thing, I think it is a price thing, if you are not charging really high prices then 4 weekly is perfectly acceptable for all your customers, and as for the argument about air pollution and the windows not getting dirty what a load of bull, a big bird strike is there till it is recleaned simple, I have done internal windows just a week after doing the outsides and you can see the build up of dirt starting to form on the glass.

Most of my work is 4 weekly. I always try to get new custys on 4 weekly but if they seem unsure I then offer 8 weekly.

4 weekly cleans cannot be charged the same as 6, 8 or 12. I won't do 4 weekly because they nearly always work out earning me less. You can believe me or not. An average 3 bed semi on 12 weeks is £16, there is no way I would get that every month.

Over recent years quite a lot of my customers have commented adversely about other window cleaners only doing 4 weekly and them not really liking that arrangement. I believe I have picked up more than just a few customers by being flexible.

Some window cleaners clean every two weeks, I can't imagine that.l

I feel comfortable saying £14 every 6 weeks and they can definitely tell i have been. Something in my head tells me its harder for a 6 weekly customer to cancel, its like them saying to themselves i am reaching an all new low when i cant even find the money to have them done every 6 weeks. I am definitely an expert on "all new lows".

It all depends on where the house is. I have rural properties that I clean 4 weekly and it's to be honest it's arguable whether they need doing when I turn up, but the customer is the boss. I also have properties at the side of busy roads that really need a weekly clean, but the custie wants them done 4 weekly. I had one last week that really needs a weekly clean and she's moved to 8 weekly.

At the end of the day price the job so that you don't begrudge doing the clean; if you do, put the price up.

Whether their windows get dirty or no, my customers are more than happy with six weekly.

My business is based around what customers want.  Therefore I clean six weekly.

We'll clean 8 weekly if we're asked but we don't "offer" it as an option; we just swap them over if they request it. So we too clean at what ever time period our customers ask for.

BUT .... we ALWAYS quote for a 4 weekly clean; and as I say around 99% of ou customers are happy with that.

And unless you're going to double or triple your monthly prices I really can't see how you earn more doing 8 or 12 weekly cleans.

And believe me, if all my customers were happy to have me clean their windows each fortnight I'd happily do that too ;)

it is pretty easy to get them on a 2 or 4 weekly cycle really, you turn up give quote and say do you want it fortnightly or monthly hen, if they look at you like you like you have just raped or killed their daughter throw in or we can do 8 weekly,

Must admit most of the time I just say once a month all right

If the customer asks for something else then of course I will accommodate their wishes, but offer what you want to do not what you think they want, how do you actually know they prefer 6 weekly if you don't offer other alternatives, I have customers that must suffer from OCD as they would have me round weekly if I could fit it in

I understand what you are saying, if you change the frequency from tw to m you effectively half your income, and that does not make sense.

However it does not take more work, all it needs is more customers and if you are geared up with the right software it makes no difference. I often move people around, the may begin high or low frequency but after a while we work out what frequency is best and stick to that. Obviously the prices change accordingly. Havin the software helps, being able and willing to tinker with the frequency is a key skill,  it helps to secure a wider market.

if it is dirty it is fair game
