anyone know how to (or what programs) can put a water mark onto photos?

  so i can show them on the Internet but not have them used by anyone else

Google's own free photo album software called " Picasa 3 "which is a basically a photo album with a few extras, allows you to add watermarks.

i've had a quick google and there appears to be many online which you can simple upload your photo and watermark to and it'll do all the work. if you only want a few done then maybe a better idea as then you don't have to download software and learn how to do it.

Apparently the best technique is to set layers,
over the top of your photo's. You have a transparent
image so that if someone right clicks and saves, they
only save the transparency. I looked into it a while ago
but did nothing in the end. my photo's are watermarked
in picasa. Below is a copy of the transparency

I searched google but only saw programmes that put text at the bottom ( which could be just cut off any photo) was hoping that MS would have some thing that would already be on my computer but only found MS paint that could be text over as photo.

i want text as a shadow across the full photo.

getting sick of seeing my photos on other peoples leaflets : : and even used as an Aviator on this site

do you think I sit at my computer waiting to jump in with my undying gratitude, its not being ignorant just not having the time to fully look into the answers & advice given.

for ages I've been trying to download the programme Paul suggested Picasa 3. but although I've done it i can't find it on my computer.

what gets my back up is people  who think thier advice is so good they need thanking, perhaps you should give advice because you want to, not because you crave gratitude.

Do away with the watermark.

Employ a barrister or law firm....take them to court for infringement of copyright and retire with the compensation

I think you have every right to email anyone who puts your pics on thier website to remove them within x amont of days or you will take legal action.

Someone who used to come on here regular copied my website almost identically after I had spent perhaps 40 hours of my time on it! I was in two minds whether to contact them to remove most of the content from the site.
I didn't bother because he has a lot of problems himself (no wonder when he pinches other peops ideas!) and it didn't conflict with my business....and I'v better things to do than bother with the parasite :

We can all take photo's from tinternet, but when you have UK firms taking pics and the work you have put into your site, it gets a bit personal and annoying.

I would also say that I have given advice, pics, mentoring and website advice to several people which is ongoing. I am just that sort of person who likes to help people out, and there are many on here.

There are some who will take the odd pick off someone elses site. To me that doesn't matter too much. But to some it will because they have put a lot of time and effort in.

I think that if you are going to include pics from someone elses site and integrate it into your porfolio, it is imprtant to ask them first. Some pictures are really difficult to take and emphasise the before and after result. So it is only curtiouse to ask first.

all these photo have a big watermark across the middle using picas but they don't show on here, I'll have to look into it a bit more.

My son and all his mates refused to pay for prom photos , they were all over their facebook pages within hours of the proofs being printed , minus the watermarks , because of course there is watermark REMOVAL software available , I would just write snotty letters to copycats

I've had a lot of trouble trying to download stuff via Internet Explorer because it times out early. You get halfway through and it stops the download.

A guy at Sony told me to use Firefox for downloads and this has cured all the problems.

Re the Watermark removal.

I normally save images in layers and then merge them all together. Does this mean the merge can be undone?
