Hi

What would you suggest for removal of a water stain from the base of a live christmas tree that was knocked over, 80/20 wool carpet.

Wil try & take a photo.

Its permanent mate, could try reducing but total removal is impossible, come across loads of similar ones over the years.

It's a bit early for Christmas trees isn't it? 

Probably only something like hydrogen peroxide will make it look better ! But I normally find the carpets more damaged than stained with these sort of problems,

Jeez nine months on at least and probably numerous attempts to remove it themselves......L just wish we all were the magicians some people seem to think we are!

What is it in the bark/trunk of the wood that damages the carpet? Bacteria? enzymes?

But to anwser your question, its more of a case of damage than a removable stain.

It could be browning wicked up from the (soaked?) backing.

Had one 2 weeks ago,water soaked right through underlay and wood floor,even had some reddy looking dye come up
tried all the usual to see if i got lucky,some improvement.
eventually used the oxi brite fibrebuff option,lady rung next day said it dried up really well ,not totally out,but nearly

I have had surprising results with rust remover on wood staining before which is worth a try

With oxibrite / buffer/ fibre shampoo is is often  that a repeat treatment/s are needed . If it is cellulostic browning (Dye from the backing wicking to the pile) then it is the same treatment. I have had this to very bad degrees on flood damaged carpets anf have not yet failed to rectify, do not  listen to the doom sayers.
