anyone on here experienced enough or know someone experienced enough to fix an oil leak on a boxxer 421, and if so, how much would you charge? might stretch to full service and descale to make it worth the journey up here, down here, (delete as applicable)

if not then its the dreaded journey of no return to that other country called cornwall.

ps... yes i will pay good money, well! what i think is good money anyhoo.

I had an oil leak on my 421 and never solved it, it was from somewhere near the oil filter, have you tried a briggs dealer? I'd go for someone professional as I tried a few lawn mover repair men and they were just guessing and it never got sorted so I traded it in for my 427 (BTW I did tell HM before I traded it)

If its around the oil filter it will from the oil cooler pipes...a length of heater hose from a good car parts shop will do the trick. It pays to replace them everytime you do an oil change...a mtr is only about £4.00 and as they are rubber they don't like oil going through them

Could you make your own gasket. Car spares places sell them in a tube or buy a square of cork and cut it out to the shape.

You can get proper gasket paper,you would need to clamp it to whatever it`s going to go between,and then tap around the edges with a flat hammer,used to make up gaskets for my bikes like this

Had a oil leak on mine recently, took to my usual lawnmower man and was diagnosed with a blown sump gaskit, engine out new gaskits and engine service £215 with the vat..very happy with that

Just this week more oil, this time coming from rocker cover, new gaskit fitted and cleaned up and cost me a tenner!

It pays to shop around if you not happy with the 1st guy

not worth going all way to oxford or cornwall when local guys can do same IMO

A halfway decent  B & S dealer should be able to sort that out.    Had the rear crank seal go a while ago & the oil was spraying op art pics over the front of my waste tank.   They sorted it no problem

fingers crossed its not over £200, i'll be happy with that.
