Resoiling yes, rapid resoiling no!

3 or 4 months I would suppose and a clean twice per year would be nice. Think I read somewhere once that one of the big carpet manufacturers/mills recommended that carpets should be cleaned every 3 months, but that's never going to happen, really couldn't be bothered to clean my own that often!

Neil, I used to do a job on Penberthy Road every 3 months without fail, her neighbour once said "You can't be doing a very good job if you need to be cleaning her carpets every 3 months!"

I became quite paranoid after that.... The thing is, her carpets were minging after 3 months as she had a dog running in and out of the house from their muddy back garden all day so it was a pretty pointless operation.

Well, I say pointless, it was a "Bread and Butter" job

I have one that i go back to every 3 or 4 months or so,white carpet,loads of draught marks,and kicker marks,where the spike have been down too far and pierced the carpet backing,also a pet cat who likes to tread loads of muck in 
Really depends on colour of carpets,amount of use they get and how clean the household is ,i say 12 month intervals,unless highly trafficked ,in which case i say 6 monthly
Just had a wisdom tooth,my bet is the injections wear off when i am on my job in half an hour,if it`s anything like the last one i will be lying on the floor crying

Three days in hospital and a face that looked like a scene out of Tom and Gerry (where the mouse throws an iron and the cat swallows and has his face the same shape).

Yeah it was touch and go for a bit,was supposed to be filling it,as was rotten between the next tooth,just saw him looking at his assistant,and knew it was going to have to come out,it took him at least 20 mins to pull it,and didn`t think he was going to manage at one point,he was shaking he was using so much force.the last one i had pulled by a female dentist as an emergency,she more or less had her foot up on the seat trying to pull that one out,serves me right for not going to the dentist from leaving school,until 3 years ago..
Was half expecting to go to hospital with this one,he couldn`t get my mouth open wide enough,then i heard the crack,and out it came.He asked if i wanted the tooth !! Er no thanks

Surely you can only guarantee a carpet will stay clean as long as the door to that room is locked when you leave and you take the key with you..... ( no matter what solution you use)

Unless I'm stupid I think it's a bit of a silly question.

You are simply getting it clean from dirty, not improving its chances of staying clean. Now if you treat with protector.... you still can't keep it clean can you?

if i clean a carpet with solution A and it needs cleaning in 6 weeks
And then clean it with solution B and it dosent need cleaning for 3 months then solution B has managed  not  to resoil as quick as using solution A.simple really.

in the same environment of course.


what is important getting it clean or keeping it clean .


in my house keeping it clean in the custys  6 to 8 weeks i reckon

I used to use a Vax in times gone by with the AAA stuff they provide you with... It used to take me all day to clean my 2 seater and 3 seater sofa

Within 4-6 weeks it was minging again and I used to just blame the kids and dog even though I suspected that the residue left behind was the culprit...

If I'd paid a carpet cleaner to clean it for £100-£150, and it resoiled that quickly, would I get them in again....? Would I hell. Same goes for carpets!

I think it could be detrimental to your business if you deliberately left the custy's carpets with a high ph or leave sticky residue (Ohhh Matron! ) in order to resoil more quickly.

It depends how good their memory is .
But from what most are say about 4 -6 months seems a reasonable time dependent on a normal use home.

I used the chem you gave me wasn't sure at first,but end job ended up great thanks I owe you one .
that's what got me thinking if I had a choice off how long carpets i cleaned would stay clean how long would I choose.

What a silly idea, I would guarantee a carpet stay clean forever if you wrap it up in clingfilm but in the real world it will stay clean as long as the customer keeps it clean.  You can't predict or promise how long it will stay clean for

Are we offering a carpet cleaning service here, or are we offering guarantees that are impossible to make?
As Jim says "it will stay clean for as long as the custie keeps it that way"
We have never sold our service on "stays cleaner for X amount of time"
If the custie walks in dirt 24 hours after the clean, it's not down to any solution we may or may not have used.  Most custies do not treat a cleaned carpet as they would a brand new one, and after the novelty has worn off for them , about their "bright, rejuvenated, looks terrific" recently cleaned carpet, they will be back to shoes on, not regularly hoovering etc etc. Thankfully they do, or we wuld all be out of business

I think a few are missing the point here Neil :

As we all know, certain chemicals leave carpets susceptible to rapid resoiling... What our friend is trying to determine is, should we use such chemicals to provide us with regular work at the same address!!!

Is that right Neil? Or am I the drunk one

there was a carpet cleaner down here that cleaned carpets for £16 for the first one and £8 for every other one.
one of his customers told me that he found they re soiled quickly but he didn,t care as he only charged £24 for 2 carpets .
 he was always booked up solid for at least 6 weeks I know because i called him (some years ago ).
