what should i do with my round
« on: September 25, 2010, 06:04:44 pm »
just want to no what you guys think i should do with my round, nearly every month i get 1 or 2 different custys asking how often i clean there windows,i can tell that they dont really want me clean them as often, i do them monthly except 5 custys which are done 2 monthly,im happy to do them monthly but keep on considering doing them every 5 weeks so that custys dont feel like im calling as often but obviously im going to be losing money by spreading it out like this so dont really want to but worried that i could start losing some custys if i dont do something,iv been doing most of the round since january this year and £200 worth of it since april, dont really want to be doing some of them every 2 months as with the round being compact worried that they all could start jumping on the band wagon, the bloke i had round off was that busy he couldnt get round each month so was always late by a few weeks maybe even a month late so thats proberly why,iv lost 1 custy up to now from this round that had a poor excuse,do you lot get custys saying "god has it been a month already"

1,what would you lads do just keep on as it is and if any want to cancel then offer the 2 month option

2,go the 5 weeks option

3,stop worrying and get on with it

4,any other ideas

i always offer a 8 wk option, at a higher price. better than losing a custie.
 eg, £10 monthly
       £12 bi-monthly
atleast that way  you keep them happy and you make more money for the same job.

However - This is the exact reason I started from scratch with everyone on 8 weeks.

I have had this problem many times with work I have bought, just stick with it, they will soon get used to it.

Sure you may get one or two ask to go 8 weekly which means you will lose a bit of money, but no where near as much as you will lose if you put them all on 5 weeks.

thanks for your input so far looking for as many as possible to give there view on this aswell,
the houses are only around £5.50 where i work for semis so it aint alot of money per month i could understand if i was asking £15 monthly,im looking for a small round to add to it when i source 1 locally,as only seem to pick 2 extra custy per month average so will take years get a big round

Just start pushing them onto a lower frequency with a higher price. Over time you will find you are giving them what they want, as well as getting what you want.
To begin with you need to be firm about getting the money in but as the round increases it is easier to bring in bi and quarterly cleans. I have always found quarterly is the best payer. You can get the same money over the year for far less visits.
if it is dirty it is fair game

the first year i started i did the 4week thing but often got accused of turning up early so i drifted these to every 5 weeks, then finally settled on 6 weekly  and never hear any grief . with new customers i tell them its 6 ,if any try to get me to do 12 instead,i point blank stick to 6max  or nothing

When my work reached a point where I struggled to keep up, I went to 6 weekly.  I'm still there years later.  Only a few went for 12 weekly but they are mostly customers who pay over a certain amount.  I do have some commercial and subcontract work that I do on other frequencies but I just treat them as a separate part of the business.  A bit tricky when a lot of work falls in the same week or two but something has to give so I get a bit behind at times.
