Usually 5 years or 60k. But early doesn't hurt. Stick one on and you have 5 years peace of mind. They do occasionally fail early.

Alfa romeo 147 and 156 need em doing at 36k but i guess your van isn't one of those.

A cam belt can deteriorate with age, so a vehicle that covers less mileage annually may still need a change even though it's only done 49k

Had  one put on Hi-Ace a few months back cost £180 including tensioner pulley. far cheaper than another engine.

My hiace cam cost just under 200. but many engines you looking at 400. A cambelt service is the biggy. With the service 500 plus should be expected. Unless you get a hiace.

depends what van it is, my transit connect is 10 years or 150,000 miles, worth ringing your local dealer and ask them when its due

Perhaps you should look in the service book.  Otherwise, you'll be basing your decsion on the guesses of window cleaners..
