new (to me) sl-x 30
« on: September 13, 2010, 06:16:44 pm »
I finally bought a decent pole, I went to St Austel today and picked up Gardner SL-x 30.
Damn thing cost an arm and a leg, when I have recovered from the sudden loss of over £400 I will wave it about in a bid to recover my loss.
Hats off to the girls at gardners they very were very professional and efficient at releiving me of my hard earned readies.
Its a seriously good looking piece of kit, as soon as i picked it up I knew I was buyin it.  I will eat my hat if I don't get my money back by friday(and then some). I will be givin it a hard time!!!!

Thanks G's for a quick look round, I will be back for a few more bits. once I am over the worst.
 :D :D

P.S dont forget to wipe the sills

if it is dirty it is fair game

Had mine a month now. One things for sure though my arms, neck and shoulders don't ache anymore.
Best pole I ever bought.

Brilliant pole and £400 is cheap compared to other full carbon poles.  You won't regret it.

I do wipe/dry my poles and equipment at the end of day anyway.  I hadn't heard of this prior to this post.

If you’re buying on the price of the pole alone, someone today put a thread up about a new carbon fibre pole on eBay for £300

Got a link?

If your buying on price alone then buy a Harris pole or maybe buy a bamboo cane  ::)

WOW!!! that thing is fantastic, they should rename it from sl-x 30 to se-x 30. What a great bit of kit.
I had a huge soffit and gutter job that I was dreading. I blasted it out without breaking a sweat.

pro's:-
The thing rocks
I will definately have my money back by friday
I wont need to buy a short pole yet as it is light and short enough to do the job for now

cons:-
I lost some bristles on the gutter brackets (never seen that before)
Cheap Y piece could be alloy or brass (will get one)
Cheap nylon hoselock could be alloy or brass (will get one)
Cheap looking hose ( kinked first day out, but I was giving it a hard time, if it does it again its binned)
Cross threaded angle adapter ( but I did hurry them a bit)

Q: Is it value for money
A: for sure. Where have you been all my life ??
 :D

If you look after them they do. I use mine day in day out and it's coming up 2&1/2 years old. However when I hear grit getting in the pole I wash it out that night. I know what you mean about the sl2 its good but you need kids gloves with it. However the sl-x is a different breed.

As for the other pole on eBay I'd like to see some reviews on it as there is very little info on there only 2 blurry pictures.
