Has anyone tried Furniture Clinic Re Colouring Balm

any good?

Let you know tomorrow because I've got a shed load of chairs to do at an Officers Mess.
I have tried it on some sample leathers I have and it seems to do the job, must be absorbant leather by the way.

One thing to make sure is that it has no protective finish like wax pull up, I once re balmed one and it came off or faded off in a fortnight.

I have had great success with aniline dye, it is very easy to apply and lasts longer, you don't need a colour match as you are really just darkening the colour, did my aniline sofa and it was truly amazing so much so the Missus stamped my ratio book

But surely a wax pull up isn't absorbant, unless you strip it off it's protective properties first.

I agree Neil but it's not as simple as if it's one or the other, may start out as a shiny finish but as it gets more use the finish perishes from the surface but is still in the leather, colour does fade but there's still some repelancy.

Also I used to like balms but when doing larger areas I don't think it last very long, I did mine with it a few times but then it just wouldn't darken after so long now onto aniline dye, takes a few coates but it's quicker to use.

Buy grisons its cheaper unless you buy in bulk from f/c it cost me more for 1 tub from f/c than I could buy it elsewhere

Aniline dyes will last longer and give a much better finish than a balm which contains pigment.  Colour mixing is much easier than pigments and you can use them on any aniline style leather including wax pull ups.

Dave I got the same result just didn't last, Judy and Andy did tell me this but I still went ahead with the balm as it was simple enough to do albeit messy, I used a brown Grison balm but when I looked at my hands they looked more like David Dickinsons

I'm not saying you are doing a bad job, quite the opposite. What I am saying is, how confident are you in the products you are using?

You know you have a superb business when you feel confident enough to pick up the phone and ring a customer you did work for a month or two ago and ask how things are going.

If you are doubtful about doing this, you have no confidence in the longevity of the products or your service. In this case, products.
