I did some low profile carpets in a nursery today,they didnt look minging but had stains here and there,

I used HWE as this is the only system I have at the moment.

I persprayed with Ultrapac Renovate and rinsed with FF so as not to leave the carpets too alkaline as the Kids play on them.

The water that was extracted was filthy - probably the dirtiest I have seen since I started CC.it was literally black.

I ran a Terry towel over the last carpet and was still getting soiling to the towel,so obviously still still some dirt left in there,any suggestions please as to what else I could have done?

I presprayed,aggitated and dwelled for 15 minutes before extracting.When i saw how dirty the water was I was confident that I had done as good a job as possible,but obviously not.

Any advice please

the water you saw in your bucket was dirty.

if you think you can only at best recover 85% of the water then you have left 15% of the same water as you saw in your waste tank in the carpet, so this is what is soiling the terry towel. its called 'white sock syndrome'

Vac is all important with low profile commercial. The pile gets packed with dirt and the reg cleaner probably has an Henry whereas a upright with a rotating brush type vac in best on these.

Sounds like you need to get a rotary Wayne, either to finish off with or to do the whole job.

Personally I would not have hit it with such high ph as kids are going to be rolling on it. M-Power/Nemesis or Fusion8, Fusion Clean if rotary working.

Welcome to the commercial world.   Vac once a week if they’re lucky that’s only spotted.

Done eot yesterday carpets looked ok but needed a quick vac , when I empted the waste thought I done a pub. Cleaning agent was from craftex

I have had the same thing happen on low profile Wayne and was surprised too did all the prespray/agitation/extraction looked clean until i wiped it with terry towel which showed it was still dirty.
I have now invested in a rotary, did a end of tennancy yesterday same type of carpet M Power prespray how water in wringer bucket and used bonnet system better result, so horses for courses.

Got mine second hand, you can pick them up quite cheap and a very hand thing to have as a back up.

Thanks for the replies,No I didnt Vac as the customer said theyd been done last night.

Lesson to be learnt - never listen to customers when thet say theyve vacced

Mikes point about only getting 85% of water out so some dirt will always remain in the carpet makes sense now I think about it.

Jim...How much did you pay for your rotary?Is this system guaranteed to give better results on Low profiles?

Wayne i have just done 5 nurseries and i used l m system as it was a dry the next morning and no wick back mate.. did you leave them very damp too?

The carpets felt quite dry when i left so no I dont think I left them too damp

I would like to have a low moisture system but get very little work at the moment that I could use it on so I cant really justify the expense.

2nd hand slow speed rotary should not cost more than £150 - £200 which should come with a drive block, pads can be anywhere from £17 - £35 but for LM you would need a few. The only thing missing is a wringer bucket. I admit it is a bit of expense but for low profile carpets there is little better. I often post bonnet following HWE just to speed drying it would also work on low profile.

Simons right wayne and you could also use the lm system on the belgium wiltons you seem to get a lot of,and also the nurserys and other l profile carpets..

I also go over with pads on most domestics to help low the drying times down too..

There on ebay - but I have problems finding them - perhaps some one else can point the way.

I understand there is a firm in Sheffield that deals a lot with them.

Get a low speed, I know Jasonl has a higher speed and DF machines are higher then "norm". 
17" or 15" - just takes a bit longer to cover area the smaller you go but if area is not large in the first place then its better - and lighter.  175-230 rpm is the "norm".
Fusion Clean is very popular from Solutions.

Wayne i got my rotary of a cleanitup member advertising on here its a Texatherm T 170 a very well built and very heavy piece of kit came with over 30 bonnet pads and many extras for around £500 these do come up for sale all the time and some companies sell reconditioned ones.
I realised i needed one when i did a large church's  low profile carpets and it wicked back as i said before its handy as a back up and covers large areas quickly, and if used correctly can get amazing results, i did another church hall with it that i HWE about a year ago and it was a doddle with the Rotary so much quicker and fantastic result too, what really amazed me was how spots and stains just dissapeared without having to get on your hands and knees to treat

Hi James,and thanks to all who replied and gave advise.It would be nice to have both systems avaiable and in time I hope to have a LM option.
At present though all my spare cash is going on marketing,now in my 6th week as fulltime CC and have done OK up to now.The phones not been very busy recently which is a worry so I will have to look at new ways of trying to get work before I can invest in a rotary.

If you got time on your hands - knock on doors and without being too pushy sell yourself.
you will get more jobs doing that then just stuffing leaflets through.

if u got a dirty cloth -  a quick splash under the tap will not clear it - if u persist in flushing it with enough water, cleaning agents and agitation it will eventually become clean.  Same with anything you clean  it all depends on how skilfully persistant you are. If you only clean with x% effort, then that is how clean it will really be.  Will a custy pay you to clean, clean and clean again to get it "really clean" ? or pay you a fair price to have it cleaned realistically???  If you extract a minger enough then it will eventually become clean tho it will never be "new" again!!! knowing where to stop to acheive an acceptable non p1ss take result is the true measure of a master carpet cleaning businessman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

High pH is not compatible with children now ? ? ? ?  Stroll on, it doesn't matter what you use as long as you rinse it out well enough.

Wayne you should know about carpet tiles and wicking, without a rotary you're seriously under-equipped, I'd get one ASAP!
