does anyone know of anything i can either fit on the ladder that would help brace it or
put at the bottom??????? i did think about havin a sand bag, but carryin that around
would not be very good for my back ( as u all know )  ::)

id prob go for a good set of ladders - ladders999 - (landfords) do some very sturdy ladders ...

and a good ladder stopper ...

may slow you down a little but it should built up the confidence again / stop you thinking you are gonna fall ...

or maybe still use wfp a bit

could use a small backpack on a trolley (johnhewitt) backpack at the bottom of his page in the trolley section for the tops only and a nice light pole clx or slx - that way no ladders but you still get to trad the all important bottoms...

soz no good with links.

maybe my advice is no good for you but i dont know your situation totally ....

not being funny but i cant see why wfp is a total no go - it makes the job a lot safer and easier in my eyes anyway.

clx 18ft around £100 and the backpack on a trolley is less than £100.

i take it you dont do much big commercial jobs then? im finding more and more places demand wfp and no ladders to be used ...

I did a new clean yesterday and i couldnt of done it any better trad and the frames were sparkling.

Go out with someone who is WFP and learn from them.

Hi Trad

If you do a search for Laddermat, I think theres a vid or it on youtube , stops ladder slipping. From a going up heights point of view its all psycological. I dont spend much time up ladders but I do spend quite a bit of time rock climbing and for me I know if I can do a route and Ive done everything safely then being 100 foot up is no different to standing on the flat being 100 foot away from something!
In 20 years going up a ladder youve never had a fall? Why start now? Im guessing the lay off has you spooked, knocked your confidence, why not clean your own windows on the ladder, get up there with your missus hanging out the window if you have too, have a brew, and stand at the top for as long as it takes for your brain to get back to the stage where you  think about the height differently. Climbers do the same thing, even climbing up and dropping off on purpose - Ive done it the first few falls you fill your pants but after a while it becomes almost fun. Also concentrating on what you are doing ie the cleaning will take your mind off the height, hope this helps good luck. PS if youre anywhere near sheffield Ill come and work for you!

Same as me mate with times, i agree odd places i do trad but most things i wfp, but i am confient with it.

Why dont ou look into a wag tail flipper? Ive not used one myself but have seen vids and everyone raves about them.

i second what   martinj  says-buy a laddermat, they are cheap but small and very handy  especially on big cobble type stones .  Because the matting is made of a spikey material it makes me feel safe .The video martinj mentions on youtube is good  ,the man who invented laddermat tries to make his ladder slip ,but it wont slip

mate aim traditional only after my first fall which i broke my elbow only 15 working with my dad i had no confidence in them but i just went up any way i was back at work with arm in plaster cleaning windows 3 story town houses two days later the only way to make it feel normal is to stop thinking about it and get on with it if after a month off using them your still worried i would change careers, not being sarcastic by the way just look at the bigger picture can you do it day in day out if not maybe try some thing new mate

take care and dont get complacent cause thats when it happens

If you have a bad back what you doing lugging ladders about?
if you want to take someone on and they work traditionally for you the insurance is extortionate.

Ladder limpets look real good,.. but a wagtail on a pole is much safer if you have the patience to learn the skill.

i have some great ladders they have about a 3 ft bar on the bottom of them with 2 rubber feet either end which have a life time garuntee cost about £140 but well worthbit if you are intrested i will look in my reciept book and give you the website ,they are a 3 section ladder and also a large step ladder very handy
