Hi Guys,
Just popped over from the general forum for some info if possible. Had a request for some carpet cleaning which i dont normally do & was going to sub it. Its about 250sq. ft after a roof leak so a bit damp & smelly. Was quoted £150.00 for this including about 60mls travel, any thoughts ?? Advice much appreciated,

Thats quite high quote distance aside but if they are the nearest then its fair. I would have Quoted £105 (which is at the higher end itself) for that but I manage my diary well and don't have to deal with the remoteness of some of the geographics that you do.

Be carefull, if the carpet has been damp for some time it may be permanently damaged. If is wool then the fibres may have broken down with the moisture and consequent fungal damage. If its manmade then it may have delaminated, meaning the backing is detaching from the face fibres. Either way once someone trys to clean it it may become worse and they might still want paying for the clean. Also the underlay may be damaged and if still damp this could be causing the smell.
See if there is a flood restoration company nearby and ask them to look at it. They should be able to tell you if its restorable and will be able to do the clean as well.

a 60 mile round trip needs at least £50-£60 adding on top so i don't think the price quoted is far off the mark

If you do sub it will you invoice the customer? That being the case you would be responsible for any decision your sub takes, I would prefer to allow them to deal direct with the customer and leave it to them as sometimes the % is not worth the hassle.

Good point Simon. There wouldnt really be anything in it for me, just keeping the client happy (as you do)
