Normally just put dirty pads in washing machine, but been doing schools and nursery jobs recently and  fine play sand has caused a washing machine problem, Stopped pump that drains water from working.

Need to rinse out pads before going in machine i suppose.

I give mine a blast with the garden hose gun in a plastic dustbin first

No its an AEG but the dishwasher and fridge are bosch 

Thought id fixed it but to add to the fine sand was hair and fluff held together by staples.

I will do the same and give them a blast first, been messing about with the washing machine for two hours! I might bill myself for tax purposes!!!!

Take them to the local launderete mate..wouldnt wash them in a home machine as al the gunge from them and also the loose fluff

I have nearly 30 pads took them to launderette cost me £7.00 to clean them all, not worth the hassle of doing them at home.

Yep, get someone else to do my dirty work too. Then, if they don't I take money from their kids dinner table

You can always put the machine through on your tax return.

I explained this to my accountant about all the pads and towels ect

His reply as long as its say every 5 years you should be fine just dont go buying them every week

I've got a separate washing machine plumbed in out in the garage.
Touch wood it's been fine so far, for about 4 years.
More than my life is worth to try putting them in the machine in the house.

The other option is buy a commercial washing machine, no pump on them, just gravity fed, go forever, we have one thats 29 years old, and have a further 3 that put through about 6-10 load a day each on them and they are 15 years old and go fantastic, the make Ipso, search ebay and you can now get normal single phase ones.

Same as mark untill last year so now i take them to launderette,wouldnt want to wash my clothes afetr the pads have been cleaned even after an empty wash,you dont know what lurking in the carpets

Lets remeber, the launderette has a duty of care to all cutomers, and the good ones have auto dosing for the detergents, we dont let our machine be operated by anyone else but ourselves, and all laundry products are from P & G and and kill every disease, including HIV, if washed for 20 mins and if reach a certain temperature.
But as we know, not all cleaning is the same !
Hense why i have one machine at work just for pads.
some of the ipso machines on ebay you can get for £250, and they go for decades, if I worked from home I would go
