Cheaper than petrol gutter vac
« on: August 26, 2010, 06:48:03 pm »
This is the type i am looking at no mechanical parts!

you can buy the kit and run it of an air compressor,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plkq35iM-Tg&feature=player_embedded#!

The kit is guaranteed for 5 years

See more on them here you can get them in the uk

Presumably they have larger diameter hose as the smaller diameters block. I would also want to know that they will suck well at 40-50ft vertically.

it looks a intresting bit of kit, as jeff said i would like to know how much suction there is compared to a omnipole vac. i was wondering if its possible to find a vac powerfull enough to be able to leave the vac in the van, and just pull the hose out which would hopefully be on a reel, but instead of having 15metres of hose (which seems to be the norm) having say 45 metres. ? i have a lot of vac work at a local holiday camp. all the apartments are 2 storey but having to move the vac about all the time is a pain in the arse.

I am going to be phoning them next week mark when i have more time as i feel this could be a far better system

Mark two minds think alike i was looking to sort of turn it into a van mount ;D

I think they have several different pumps to do this,

If this can be done its the way i will be going,

The fact that it pumps as well as suck could come in very handy!

I'm not an expert but this system relies on a suction of liquid and nothing else. Gutter vacs suck debris and air.

This system would lose the vacuum if the hose/pipe started sucking any amount of air.

Sorry James I got the wrong end of the stick. :-[

But with the dry vac you would need to carry a compressor, so I dont see the advantages.

The whole idea would be to leave the compressor in the van!

You could carry the little drum if needed out of the van a lot easier than lifting a petrol vac in and out of a van and if you had any water in the drum you could just pump it straight down the drain,

You would only have to reel out an air line to your work!

This set up would be far cheaper than a petrol powered vac.

What's the CFM of the pump. A petrol powered compressor with a large CFM output is not going to be cheap or light, and it will be very noisy.
I can remember when waking up stiff in the morning was a good thing.

two problems i see with that are 1, the hose is knowhere near big enough diameter, 2 how do you plan on emptying the drum of, leaves, moss, mudd and so on. we have had a gutter vac for 3 years and I can tell you there is no way to your going to get the contents out of that drum.
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

Lee,  i will know better next week, far as i know they do 50 +mm hose

As for getting it out of the drum, how do you empty yours!

Ok miss read it ;D

The idea i have is to put a trap door at the bottom of the drum  and open it to empty!

I think it looks great for filling van up from static, if it could work and not cost a fortune

would have to check they could take the pressure from the compressed air though
