Fliers - include prices?
«
on:
August 25, 2010, 12:57:08 pm »
I'm going to have some new fliers done shortly and was debating on whether to include typical window clean prices on them (ie £x for a 3 bed semi, etc).
Wondered what peoples views are on this and in paticular would like to hear from those that have tried it and had any success or not with it.

*Subject to survey. Terms & conditions apply. See

for more details
Its a good idea,.. "pre-qualifies" your customer, eg less time wasters.

i personally wouldnt,
too many variations, no such thing as a standard 3 bed semi, initial clean price, different frequency price, etc.
not to mention upsetting other w/cleaners who may think your trying to under cut them.

I think putting your price on a leaflet has merit, Its not undercutting as you do not know what other w/c charge. It makes custys rethink what they are paying as long as you state that prices could differ as house are not all standard

ive done both before and found the set with prices on didnt get me any more work than the ones without, just caused problems when any prices were higher than the flyer eg: 4 bed house from xx price - when you price it moe due to con size or porch, dumb customers always say but it say xx price on the flyer.

'Prices start from £xxxx' should be fine.
Sorts out the one window on the 4th floor brigade.

There is no such thing as an average house so be careful. I would work on the top end of your prices for a 3 bed semi and as Nat says then they are pre-qualified.
Those who phone from my website know to expect good prices esp if they want a one-off as I have some prices on there.
I would personally avoid 'Prices from:' as it starts their thinking off too low. (Unless you start prices from £25 or the like) Certainly avoid anything below £15.

going slightly off the post but i feel a good sales/good knowledge of the job goes a long way.
i would keep the flyer simple and no prices - i would however make the flyer out in some way that it makes the customers very interested and call up, so then you can impress them with your sales/knowledge of cleaning...
some customer think every house is a fiver (maybe in 1970) but in the other hand some customers will try and sound you out to see how pro you are - give the pro image n knowledge and you will get the jobs at the prices you want to charge.
no prices on flyers for window cleaning - it just doesnt work to well.
on bigger jobs - gutters, con roofs you maybe able to have a rough price/starting from price as the customers will realise that its a big job and the prices will be different but for window cleaning they think every 3 bed house is the same price...
seen a flyer around my area with a simple we charge £1 a window..

on my flyers I have 3 bed semi from £10 as long as you put from in front of your price then you cant be tripped up by a troublesome customer.
so in a nutshell just put the word FROM before your price

that can still make a few probs tho - always gonna get some customer but it says £10 on the flyer and your charging me £18 for example, then you have to go thru why, due to the big porch or conservatory...
if you get lucky and dont get idiot customer then fair play to if it works...
sometimes you just have to go with what you think works best for you and your round mate.

I love these flyers with prices on.
Someone posted flyers with prices to a load of my customers, he was charging £2 more than me, I promptly put my prices up by a quid saying I could no longer do them for the old price, not one complaint.
I am seriously thinking of printing some flyers off myself "Joe bloggs window cleaning will do your windows for £xxx". Just get someone to post them for me before putting my prices up.
