Hi Guys my first winter coming up but have already experienced soggin wet trainers and socks and imagine in the real cold my feet are gonna be frozen and running the risk of a unwelcome cold.

have looked at goretex footwear around 70-100 quid are there any cheaper options for footwear that are waterproof and keep your feet warm that you can suggest??

im sure a few guys will have a need for something suitable

They are waterproof and just the same as wearing normal trainers so light and comfortable as well.

Get yourself down the army surplus shop.

Combat boots about £40.

Threw mine out in Apr, they lasted 8 winters.

like the idea of the hitecs - i actually visited there office in essex this year and they had a glass cabinet with nelson mandellas hi tec trainers that he wore in his last year in prison -authenticated with his signature.

Hi there,

I've always used the waiking type boots out of decathlon but last winter I used an old pair of timberland boots and there were superb neve had wet feet even in the snow and ice and my feet smelt either.

I'm wearing reebok boots at the moment because it's summer but I can't wait to get the timbos back on.

  I use a pair of work boots without the steel toecaps.

  I prefer the suede style ones as I am a bit vain, when they loose there waterproofing I just put my feet in the little plastic bags that you use for pickiong up dog poop, then put my boots on - watewrproof again!

our local builders merchants .robert prices .do water proof boots ( dickies ) £45 local builders recon their ideal for wet weather .

I just use work trainers with steel toe caps and wear them all year round as have alot of commercials that have to have them and they cost £24.99

i use brasher borgue gtx gortex boots, 3 years and still going strong .

I got british army goretex boots from ebay. brand new and delivered for £35. So comfortable, warm and waterproof. Had 2 winters so far and still perfect. I've tried all other boots (Hitec/Peter storm etc) but the waterproof only lasts a winter for me

i buy merrells walking trainers but was predominantly trad last winter so needed to stay warm and be mobile if you are wfp i would just get some walking boots goretex and some waterproof socks - sealskinz

I usually buy a pair of walking boots from Aldi's every 2/3 years - about £25 I think. As mentioned above - waterproof but light as well.

They stay waterproof but the soles' tread wears low after about three years on tarmac.

Karrimor snow boots... Lovely toasty warm feet even in snow. I used to take the dog out wearing these in all weathers as well as working.

Think I might dig them out and get them in the van. Feet got wet today a little. I hate wet feet !!!

Blooming heck,

just get some normal , steel toe capped boots around £20.. put some thermal socks on and you will be fine.

we dont work in the arctic.....

you will be fine with decent gloves and decent warm workwear.

Apart from last winter we only get the same amount of wet days in winter as we do in summer... and an odd frost bitten morning here and there.

After 10am its fine every day.
