Backpack/Battery Operated VACs
« on: September 13, 2005, 11:32:10 am »
Fingers crossed but we hope to land a contract to do the communals on 2 brand new blocks of luxury apartments.

However when doing the survey I noted that there were no obvious power points in the landings. On further inspection managed to find sockets inside a locked area on each floor. Whilst this will work its not particularly safe or elegant to have trailing wires that will be out of site to the cleaner for a good portion of the time.

So obviously battery operated and/or backpack vacs would seem like the sensible way to go longer term.

So eventually, my question is does anybody have recommendations/advice on particular makes, models , good suppliers etc

Hi,

Funny enough, was reading the cleaning and maintenance magazine, where there is a large 4 page advert on Victor products, and they do a battery powered backpack vacuum.
Only seems to have half of the power compared to the electric ones.....but it is battery!!

However, if you get a powered one, i'm sure that as long as you have a couple of "Danger, cleaning in progress" signs, you should be ok. Don't forget to incorporate this in your Health and Safety pack.....

Happy hunting

Which issue of C&M are you looking at. I've just received my September issue and there is no 4 page spread on Victor although there is an ad for a battery operated Burnisher! Had a quick look on their website and couldn't find anything there either.

Hi Mick

Sorry, my fault......nearly every issue has a 4 page spread from them.....was looking at the July-August copy.
The September Issue only has a couple of pages with no vacuums!......but if you were to look at their website, they must have all their models there.
