Does anyone know how many window cleaners there are in the uk ?

I have read figures of between 60,000 to 180,000 !

Which area do you think is the most saturated with wc,s ?

It would be interesting to know the ratio of wc,s to houses.

You could ask for people on here to count how many are in there copy of the yellow pages and post the number of window cleaners and the area

At least that figure will be accurate.

i dont think that would be accurate ewan id say only 40-50% advertise even less maybe

I would say less than 40/50% advertise there are only a few entry's in our yellow pages and I think there is in the region of 200 licensed window cleaners working in my area and probably another 100 not licensed maybe more

I had a phone call ages ago from a chap who said I was in his area. Found out a few months later he's a fireman! Cheeky devil!

Of course it would be accurate, just wouldn’t be giving you the whole picture. At least it takes some of the guesswork out.

I'm suprised at you stating this. Its totally inaccurate amd does nothing to alleviate any guess work. Not only does it not give you the 'whole picture' it doesn't come anywhere near. All that is listed in yellow pages is window cleaning companies. Even if you had the figure of employed people registered with HMRC as window cleaners you wouldn't be any nearer to collating a figure.

You’re wrong; its not just ltd in the yellow pages its sole traders as well.

If you’re a full time professional window cleaner then compare like with like there’s nothing you can do about the other window cleaners who claim benefits, or the part time window cleaners who are firemen and postmen etc, it won’t help you in anyway being concerned about these.

Just concentrate on the proper competition and see if its saturated in your area or if there are too few ‘professional window cleaners’ and then look for your niche market.

Before you say anything I have recently lost a job, a bungalow £15 the new window cleaner is doing it for £5, does it affect me? NO, today I got another bungalow for £10 next to a care home I did today for £35 both jobs are done in 35 minutes.

My point is the window cleaner charging £5 doesn’t have a clue, same as the firemen & postman window cleaners. It’s the amount of window cleaners in your edition of the yellow pages that you have to keep your eye on.

The question is not who you have to keep your eye on,who is ltd. or who is sole trader,or even who is on the dole, its how many are there? I'm saying no one will have any approximation at all. Are you in yellow pages for example? I'm not.

20 million homes divide by 180,000 = 112 homes (60,000 = 336 homes)

I would think the number is over the half million, I know its a unusual comparrison, both my sons are dj, one a wedding dj doing over 100 weddings a year, and the other a nightclub dj, been to a trade show a few times for the day and did a survey and there is over 250,000, yes a quarter of a million dj in the uk.
With population of 60 million population, and 100 of thousand commercial properties, could it be a million
