Should i have this on my van?
« on: August 19, 2010, 04:08:51 pm »
I'm about to have some signage put on my van,and Im after some opinions.

I was thinking about a line saying "THOROUGH AND QUALITY CLEANING AT SENSIBLE PRICES"

Is it a mistake to have a reference to prices/rates,I dont intend to become a cheapo CC but then again at my stage of CC I cant really go for the high end work and charge top dollar.

Any opinions please

a different way to look at this is....

if you have room on your van to write  "THOROUGH AND QUALITY CLEANING AT SENSIBLE PRICES" could you put something else that would bring in more work or is of more importance to the customer.

I personally think  "THOROUGH AND QUALITY CLEANING AT SENSIBLE PRICES" is meaningless

With respect isn't the statement of doing Quality thorough carpet cleaning at sensible rates not of importance to the customer?

What would you suggest to put in order to gain more work

Put the bare minimum to let the people know what you do.
When they see you driving around though won't have enough
time to read much so your trading name is a must, anything else
is meaningless and will take their mind off your name by trying to
read the rest.

One of my slogans is "Excellence at a Sensible Price"

Conveys the same message but with less words.

wayne of course it is important to customers but they expect it as standard you don't need to tell them you will do it.

if I had room to write that I would put something that is  more important to customers ( off the top of my head).....

' WE WORK EVENING & WEEKEND AT NO EXTRA COST'

not brilliant but this is an answer to question I get asked a lot by customer ( so is important to them) no one ever ask me if I will do ' Quality thorough carpet cleaning at sensible rates'

I like

Value for money guaranteed!

or

Best value guarantee!!

will allow you to charge a bit more when you get the"available money" type jobs assuring them they getting the very best value for a quality service and not a "cheap" job - the word sensible to me associates with nutters  ??? lol  :o  ;D  Value is a positive word which is hard to incorrectly associate?

Dying to change my van graphics as they well out of date now - but not looking forward to the head numbing challenge of getting it right next time!!

Best wishes

Disagree.
You don't all the words from the first 2 pages of the carpet cleaning manual signwritten on your van, (I have seen something that takes about 5 minutes to read if the van isn't moving :o), but a quick slogan to get the attention carries more weight.

A picture paints a thousand words and all that.... If you can afford it that is! i.e. a before and after pics of a soiled carpet with a steaming wand going over it etc etc

Your biz name and phone numbers are the most important thing!, then your website (if you dont have your business name in the URL dont dont bother putting it on the van. www.carpet-cleaners-poopsville69er.co.uk doesn't look good!) then your slogan. A slogan is nice to have i think.

Something like this:

BUSINESSNAME              <---------- BIG and captials! (also, add the web address if you have a good one)
Professinal carpet and uhpolstery cleaners    <----Slogan
WEB SITE                           <--------Web address but not if its www.carpet-cleaners-poopsville69er.co.uk
PHONE NUMBERS!               <---- BIG AND BOLD!

Affordable, value, sensible prices etc to me I think tradespeople who are only competing on price and not quality.  It may only attract price shoppers.

Just a thought.

Just a thought here and it's a true story (even if the Yellow pages rep didn't believe me).

I took a leaflet headline that was converting at about two percent and added two words. The conversion jumped to EIGHT percent afterwards (in a localised market).

"Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning"  became

"High Class Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning"

Like a fool (before I understood marketing) I stopped using it because I thought people would be bored of the same leaflet! You are welcome to try it  ;D
