FILTER/RESIN CHANGES RE TDS METRE

HI GUYS -
JUST CHECKING WITH YOU ALL WHEN YOU CHANGE YOUR CARBON/SEDIMENT FILTERS AND HOW FREQUENTLY YOU CHANGE RESIN. ON THE SUBJECT OF RESIN ARE YOU ABLE TO RE-PACK IT TO GET A LITTLE MORE LIFE OUT OF IT BEFORE CHANGING?
I DO A 20MINUTE FLUSH 3 TIMES A WEEK AND AN HOUR ONCE A FORTNIGHT
BUT I HAVENT GOT FULL DAYS LIKE YOU GUYS AVERAGING 9 JOBS A WEEK CURRENTLY.(IVE RECENTLY STARTED). I SALT FLUSH ONCE A WEEK FOR WATER SOFTNER (HARD WATER HERE TAP IS 485.
MY TDS HAS CREPT UPTO 001 LAST FILL AND THIS FILL 002 - SO WONDERING WHETHER A FILTER CHANGE OR I NEED A 2HOUR FLUSH OF SYSTEM
VAN MOUNT PURE FREEDOM 5 FILTER SYSTEM. HAVENT SEEN THIS TOPIC ABOUT ANY INPUT GUYS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL AND APPRECIATED.

Mark how much water are you actually producing a week? As far as i know carbon/sediment filters would last for about 3 months before needing changing and thats assuming using about 500 litres per working day. Not sure what your RO/ DI set up is? But if your TDS has crept to 002 then flushing will not help it, the DI resin would seem to be at capacity. But 002 should still be perfectly usable.
Gardiners do a resin calculator which may answer a question for you?

thanks mike
im using about 700 ltrs a week the lowest its got is a qtr tank and i top up. i started parttime at weekends a little over a month ago - ive nearly 50 cleans done so far inc a facia/soffit and gutter facia clean.
the system was fitted in june and my girlfriend is dissapointed that we would have to change filters or resin this soon considering how little work ive done compared to someone cleaning most days week in week out.
i have 5 filters an ro unit / di vessel (i think 11ltr) / carbon and sediment and a water sotner.
could i re-pack the di resin it seems a poor return for resin based on my current use?
thanks mike

Sometimes stirring the resin around will add a bit of life to it for a short while. But you need to check that calculator and see if your resin usage is near comparable? You'll need to check your TDS going into the DI resin to work it out correctly.

Hi mate, are you using ro to produce your water, or are you puting it through your di at over 400ppm?
If you are, your resin will last no time at all.

hi dave riley
and thanks for pointing out something i didnt kn ow re the resin burn out if direct to di.
mine is produced via the ro and then to the di vessel - i must check the size of the vessel and also think about putting a drain off tee from ro to di just so i can check tds from ro to di
do you know what should be coming out of the ro as a maximum dave?
you know before its polished off with the resin.

Hi Mark, i think it all depends on what your tds is going into your ro at, mine for example goes in at about 200, and the ro gets it down to about 2 or 3 ppm, i just use the resin to polish that down to 0. most ro systems should get it down to below 10 regardless of the input i think.
