Vauxhall Combo

Hi all,

Wondering who else uses current shape vauxhall combo and what size tank they have installed ?

Reason for asking is i currently run a combo 2000 1.7cdti (100ps) which says the max payload is 765Kg, and i have a 500 litre tank installed. When the tank is full the rear of the van 'sits down' quite alot and although the engine can pull well, i still worry that is is putting quite a bit of strain on it. The tank is installed right up against bulkhead.

Worked out with me, water, poles and other kit in the back i am probably getting up to near 650kg of weight.

Have i got the wrong van here ? - had a berlingo 1.9d 800kg before and it seemed to cope better with heavy load although it was much slower.

I got one and I only have a 350 litre tank in it and it sits pretty low when thats in it. Not sure if I would want a bigger tank than that bin there but if you think you are under the limit then I wouldn't worry

how an earth do you use 500L IN A DAY?ive been wfp for 2 months and im using 300L AT MOST!(thats  a long day!)i have flow on 50 on digi pure freedom.i use a tap on pole and wfp most properties top and bottoms.the odd downstairs trad but not many.i clean most doors with scrim as a lot of custies dont like wet doorways.

i have a kangoo with a 625kg payload so 300L IS MY LIMIT with trolley/poles/ladders/trad stuff.

couldnt you just fill to 400 L INSTEAD?MAYBE YOUR WASTING TOO MUCH WATER?

dont forget that 500L IS HALF A TON OF WATER!!! :o :o :o

I wouldnt  put anything bigger than a 400L TANK in a combo!

Hi have been runining a 500l tank in the back of a 2000 1.3cdti combo for over two years now with absolutly no problems at all. Its even possible to get a gutter vac and pressure washer in there with two hose reels if needed.

I wouldnt worry about putting too much strain on it if its a 2000, its designed to carry that kind of weight.

Update,

I very rarely use 500 litres in a day unless i had alot of first cleans to get through or a large commercial site job using 2 operators.

Its more around the 3-350 litre per day mark on average.   When the tank is full its not so bad when the water can't move around, but when the water moves around in the tank would i be right in saying that creates extra strain on the engine as it sloshes back and forth ??

I have recently had to replace the turbo unit on the engine at 89K with full vauxhall service history !

I have just lowered the float switch so it can now only be filled to just over the 400 litre mark approximately.

PS word of advice to anyone running turbo-diesel engine vehicle - Forget what oil your handbook tells you to put in - ALWAYS use fully synthetic like Mobil 1 or similar, as it really does help things like your turbo and inlet manifold from getting all gunked up - especially if you are doing alot of short stop start stuff like on residential round work.
