For 15 years I've had 2 customers, next door neighbours no.s 8 and 10, both in their 60's. Went to clean them today. Conversation goes like this.

No.8 "I don't want my windows cleaned again"

Me. "Oh is there a problem?"

No.8 "No just that no.10 is retiring and he's going to clean my windows"

Me. "Oh ok"

Go off to no.10

Me "You're going to be cleaning no.8's windows?"

No.10 "Yes"

Me "So you don't want your windows cleaning either?"

No.10 "Yes I still want my windows cleaning"

Me "But your going to clean no.8?"

No.10 "Yes"

He's setting up in competition and doesn't want to fall out with you or create an enemy before he's even started.His wife probably said to him, yes you can do it but don't bring us any trouble.

When his feet are under the table so to speak and he sees you as accepting him as a colleague but not a threat he will dump you.As soon as you left he was round next door saying how did he take it?
