Yell.com ?
« on: August 10, 2010, 11:19:31 am »
hi guys

I'm sure this has been covered many times before, but I'm thinking of advertising with Yell.com, just online and not the book.

I'm currently getting most of my business through my website and through door knocking/work of mouth etc.. but I feel like a little boost will help me make that leap from being 'employed' to going 'self employed' with the window cleaning.

Who uses them, and is it worth it? Does it make much of an impact?

Your thoughts would be appreciated

Cheers

Thought that was the case.

Think I'll stick to my door knocking/website etc..

Thanks

had the odd one but not worth what i am paying,  same with yellow pages,      the 400 odd a year that i am wasting on yell and yellow i will be spending on my websites and SEO next year and prehaps a higher ranking on google

the easiest way to think what should i spend my money on is to think   "what do i do when i want to find a plumber/spark etc,"  most people just google it

I've had a free advert on yell for a couple of years. I picked up a £175 every 4 week job within hours of it going live. Still doing it now.
I wouldn't pay for the listing though.

I got a free ad on yell.com and it also goes in the book in your area. i also have a free ad on google where you can put info about you and what you do and you can also add photo's to it. I always ask people when they ring where they got my number from and 9 out of 10  times its from google not yell that or word of mouth.

Online is the way to go!

i also do pest control now, solely advertised online, no where else......keeps me busy.

ive got a website for cleaning too, but going to get one just for connie and upvc cleaning, use adwords.

Some people slate adwords cos you gotta pay......of course you do, its a pittance against what it brings me in.

ive found a fella whos excelleent at seo, worth its weight in gold, 1st day my pest site went live, i was out working!!   :) :) :) :)

Agreed.

I have gone the seo route rather than adwords for fear of large monthly bills. What kind of costs are you getting per month using adwords?
