It's a term, the dark side, used to describe a a forum that went a bit rules mad, that was obsessed with sending warning emailss and banning people,Luckily the lead villian came to a righteous end, but not before many  members had become disiaffected.

Another, sort of rival forum was set up, called the friendly forum, and the dark forum was forced to moderate it's ways and in many ways emulate the friendly forum.This has been a lesson well learned and the friendly bunch stands ready to hand out another lessson should the need arise,

I use both forums.
I don't see why it has to be either/or.
And yes, I do feel that some of the stuff that happened on here was heavy handed and excessive.

The "other" forum is c-l-e-a-n-i-n-g p-r-o-s  a breakaway from this forum. Not the one you mention. 

I was around when they broke away and then got all the emails asking me to leave this forum and come over. You can't say it was because they were unhappy with the way this forum was being run because one of the main protagonists was Steve Lowe who was a moderator on this forum and a very good one too. It was a straightforward hijack attempt  IMO.

After they broke away since most of them were experienced window cleaners anyway they didn't have that much to talk about so much of the chit chat was along the lines of how much better life is now they are not on CIU and how bad things were back on CIU now that all the good people have left.

You can't criticise me for negative posts when thats all they did was make fun of this forum and its members, in a smug "we are better than them" sort of way. Thats why I say they are all so perfect. It goes back to the way they were when they broke away.

As for being heavy handed, they terminated my membership and didn't even have the grace to tell. Probably because I criticised them on here. Oh dear, I've done it again

This forum has had a few ups and downs over the years. Its not all been good plain sailing I must agree.
But to put another point of view there have been some really bad wind up merchants in the past who have tried to cause trouble and frankly should have been banned. Some with multiple identities who kept on coming back time after time. One guy I remember used to have conversations with himself using three different identities at the same time.

But this is still the best forum IMO and it generally does a good job of helping genuine  people with their problems and I don't see why others would try and wreck it.

As for Ionics adverts, well I'm immune to that, its not going to make me buy their gear.
