With the recession set to deepen and all these foreigners still coming in, how do you think the future will pan out, will we still being able to achieve a good living at window cleaning.

More than ever I'd say. New houses being built all the time.

Since this "recession" I've got more and more work. Don't believe the hype. ;)

Any new window cleaners will be packing it in as soon as the weather gets tough and people know it. You lose the occasional one to new start ups but they often come crawling back

I'm a foreigner and I've got loads of work; too much; it's great.  I picked up two jobs today and struggled to get the stuff I wanted to get done, done.

It's class; I think I could be in line for a top month if next week holds out weatherwise.

You're asking this and you clean in the West End of London? Have you only just noticed foreigners coming in there in the last hundred or so years?

The winter will sort out the boys from the men, a form of economic darwinism, the weaker cleaners will hibernate in the pub till spring so you should clean up.

Loads of foreigners starting up round here! I pass on my low priced custies to them and just keep the racists on my books who'll pay me extra cuz I'm white with close cropped hair (what's left of it), ear-ring and beer belly and I speak with a local "gert lush brizzle" accent.

It's great! All the foreign windies get to do the non-racists at a fiver a pop and I keep the racist scum and charge £30 for a semi. Everybody's happy.  ;)

Oh, and laddermonkee me old china - that bit about the weak windies packing in in the winter may be true but the East Europeans are used to Russian winters blowing in off the steppes - they love it and think our weather is fantastic in the winter. Remember Moem Gorod? His guys love the winter!

All the Polish round our way think we're a bunch of wimps for packing it in at minus 2 degrees.

I heard one of them say to a custy I handed over to him "Gin Dobry madam! You want regular clockwork window cleaner? I your man! I come in all weather! My Pole will reach top corner of your sliding sash; satisfaction guaranteed."
