« on: July 17, 2010, 11:11:24 pm »
Hi Guys!

Have just had the finishing touches added to my new Website, would appreciate your comments etc....

Site was designed and built for me by a vibrant company who listen and understand what you need!

So what do you think???  www.jackmanfabriccare.com

Hi,

My feedback (remember that web design is an art not a science - so it's mainly personal preference):

Content-wise the site is excellent. Everything where it should be and I really like your open, honest, positive information on the site. (It's refreshing to see realistic and honest appraisals of likely drying times for HWE).

My only negative would be the use (or lack) of colour to add impact - it's a rather conservative, traditional looking site. (That in itself is not a criticism, perhaps it is comensurate with your target audience). I really don't like the 'doom blue' that's been used for the menu bar at the top - something lighter, brighter and adding more impact would have been better.   I'm also not sure that the maroon in your logo goes with this blue.

Again, it's really just down to taste - I don't intend to hijack your thread but if you take a quick peek at my site, you'll see what I mean about colour use and impact:-   www.carpetzest.co.uk

My site is not perfect and objectively no better or worse than yours or anyone elses, I'm mainly just demonstrating how lighter, brighter colours and branding can give a more modern feel.   But yours and my offerings are very different, so it may well be that the type of conservative presentation you've gone for will work best for your business.

All really just thoughts out loud - hope you don't mind!   I'd say again that I think the written content of your site is excellent. First Class.

Kind regards,

David

Cheers Jacko.

Depending on the deal you got for your web design, you may be able to get them to knock up an alternative draft with some lighter colours, or colours that compliment your logo.  You could then look and compare, you may not like it and may well want to stick with what you have on your live site there, but it's always worth looking at alternatives.

Cheers,

Jacko,

When I see something like that, I normally cringe as in most cases the company is full of ***.

I must say however, that (in my opinion), you've got yourself a nice clean, classy site.

i get a lot of custies saying "i liked the look of your website, thats why i chose you"

unfortunately, ive no idea how many people don't like my website and therefore don't choose me.

jacko
your website is fine and will attract custies as well as putting some off.

if there was a way of designing something that everybody liked, then there would only be one make of car on the road. one make of beans in the supermarket, blah blah blah.

the fact is, if your pleased with it then thats all that matters mate.

personally i liked it. ;)

like the site, looks nice, clean and easy to navigate.

i'd remove the last updated 19/02.... as it serves no purpose to the customer and also if you can't update it yourself then say in 6 months time you'll need to pay to have that page updated, or say you wait a couple years, then you're saying to your customer that your site is not had any attention for 2 years.

also when i click submit on the quote form without filling anything out i get a successfully sent message. does it actually send a blank email?
