Hi Guys

What would you do when you invest in a new system?
Have not done WFP, but I think it looks good, installing hot water system and so on.

But car choice is hard.

VW Transporter
650l with possibility for two operators, but It could not be a long day if you are two guys.

Citroen Berlingo
500l with one operator. Cheap, but it would be a big possibility that I have to buy a new car fast then because there will be an expansion soon.

Mercedes Sprint
1000l with two operators. Cost more, but then you are prepared for some more work.

Most work are residential, but going more com.

What would you choose?

The new berlingos do have an 850kg payload mind.

I have an old type  expert  with a 400 litre tank.

Loads of room left in the back and still goes well with a full tank

transporter for me , and i carry 600ltrs which lasts all day for the two of us ,
some days we come back with 200 ltrs it all depends on the days work
had mine 4 yrs now from new bloody good van

If i could have any van it would be the transporter with a 650L twin operator system.

Next choice would be a transit swb with the same in.

I have an old shape expert at the moment which is great (bar its age). Loads of space in it with a 400L upright.

Correct.And you can have three operators in this.Also consider the long wheel base ducato- it does the same job and it's cheaper.The only con is that large vans are harder to park on drives.

Three operators is a more important point than you might think.

VW's have a good rep and look nice but do not have the spec, nor do most of the vans mentioned above.

I have a scudo maxi 1200kg payload with 800l.The reason i have this is for parking on my own drive because i also have a transit, otherwise the long w base ducatto 1500kg payload would have been my first choice.Let's not turn this into an earnings row but if you want a tool that can hit £100 ph then the sprinter would be the one, with you writing chits and knocking neighbours, two guys going like stink on the poles.

I have to agree with Ewan on one thing, Transporter,Sprinter or Berlingo It is a strange combination, Big vans or a little van!
Not having a go or anything. I have a swb transit, 400 litre tank in it. I woiuld like/will be getting a bigger tank soon, probably a 650 litre. I would of gone for a berlingo or transit connect myself as I do not need a big van for work reasons, Its just I needed extra seats in the back to pick my kids up so had to opt for a bigger van. I have hardly, If any more room
in it than a small van with having extra seats in and boarding out. My first choice of bigger van was VW transporter, But I could not stretch to the extra money they fetch (and rightly so, they are IMO the best van on the road, And I have driven quite a few different makes of transit size vans). I have always liked transits and I am pleased with this one, I could not stand Merc sprinters/vito's,Horrible drive. ex Father in law has a berlingo, seems pretty good van and dirt cheap.

Hitting £100 and hour occasionally doesn’t mean much, other than you have just made £100 in ‘1 hour’.

I know plenty of ‘soul trader’ window cleaners who take home £45 or more ‘every hour they work’, probably more than both you pair are capably of earning. They know what they are doing price wise and how to pace themselves, so no reason to ‘Go like stink’

Basic full time employee hours are about 1924 hours over the year based on a 37 hour week. Now do the math slumpbuster and don’t forget your holidays, sick days, weather, maintenance etc and ‘cost’.

Ola you seem to have a problem deciding between small vans, medium size and larger vans. All vans are suitable, you need to decide on where your business is going and/or personnel requirements before you make that decision.
