Has anyone taken their son out with them during the school holidays?
I am thinking of taking my son out for the odd day during the holidays so he can earn some money.

I haven't got a son but a friend's son (14) has asked to help me out during the hols. I said i don't mind but I'm a little bit wary that he might not be strong enough to use the pole effectively.

Also, something to bear in mind, technically you have to have employers liability insurance.

I know about employers liability insurance, I have that insurance anyway as I use to employ a couple of guys on casual labour. and my policy doesnt run out til september.

My little brother (He's 16) works with me from time to time in the holidays. He's brilliant on the pole once its not really high stuff. I get him to do leaflet dropping for me to which I'm sure he finds really boring, but it does bring in some nice jobs.

when i was 16 i used to work with my dad on a saturday every now and again, this was back when he was ladders only and i only use to do the bottoms, use to pay me £2.50 per hour lol

True,.. you have to pick your jobs carefully when you've a young fella helping out. I tend to take my bro to the little old ladies etc who all think he's brilliant and actually give him tips!

my lads twelve he comes with me sometimes on weekends
when i do some granny flats and houses when im behind

he squeegees off the water and wipes the sills....on the bottom
floor of course  and gives the doors a wipe over,helps me get gear
in and out.

gives him something to do, the grannies love him,he earns
some pocket and it s good bonding for the pair of us

although he does stretch my patience at times

I helped out on a farm from 8 or 9 years old, Then also did a paper round from 13. Let him come with you, Sod all this rules and regs, 99.9% of customers will not give a toss I am sure and it keeps him off the streets getting bored up to god knows what. I often wonder what I would of got up to if not for that farm job.

i started helping my dad window cleaning in the summer holidays when i was 13 and did every saturday with him. i hated it at the time but was better money than a paper round.

I have three sons that come with me at weekends one every weekend as they take in turns and two sons that are to young to come with me.

 The three sons ages are 18,13,12 years they all like put ladders on vehicle or getting the hose out and putting things away etc and we bond well together. It gives them something to do and time with you and at least they arent getting into trouble.

I used to go out with my dad back in the day (10 years ago lol) with ladders, dad used to do the ups and id do bottoms, i was 14 - 15. I didnt really enjoy it to be honest...but got me where i am today and i still look after the same rounds today!
