super lite dual trim flocked brush
« on: June 28, 2010, 02:15:55 pm »
i got the above brush this morning and its wont fit on my plastic adjustable angle adaptor!! >:( >:(

no mention on gardiners website that theses brushes dont fit on standard plastic goosenecks!!are the gardiners plastic adjustable goosenecks compatible then?? as they just look the same as the 2 ive already got!!

you think they would tell you on the site under the brushes section!!

first impressions are it looks cheap and not as well made as the vikan ive got.also the bristles seem really soft!it might be harder to scrub bird muck off!!

all in all not very happy as it cost me £44 with delivery!

i will reserve judgement on it properly when ive used it which wont be for a while as it seems a bit pointless just ordering a gooseneck unless i get a pole at the same time!!

i was hoping the brush would fit on my unger 30 footer that ive adapted!!not a chance!!! ::) ::)

Daz,

as far as i was aware the thread in a superlite is the same as the vikan,

my brodex pole came with a vikan oval - yes well built but damn heavy.  so got superlite - it went straight on.

i have the plastic angle adaptors which i have brought from a couple of different places and all fit brush heads.

i think you may have been better off with a mono brush rather than flocked.

Daz,

sorry, that was the point i was trying to make - if you use vikan, the superlite should go on as well

Ewan has a good point the bolted on stock may have a deformed thread - do you have any broom handles lying
about - these have the same thread  so you could test both the vikan and superlite on this to see if the thread is ok.

otherwise send it back.

so sorry lads i think this sun has done something to my brain!i have fitted it on no problem now!!i just needed to push it in a bit further before screwing!! ;) ;D

all sorted!!

it does seem to make my pole a lot easier to manage at height and awkward angles as ive just extended it fully and its not bending half as much!!! :D :D

ive put the vikan one on a short pole for some ground floor windows.also if i do need to use the 30 footer later in the week i can just pop the supalite on the end.

do you advise rinsing brush off with this brush unless its above 1st floor?

what supalites do you lot use?

im just experimenting and getting the feel of wfp at the moment!!

thanks guys

I have always opted for mono brushes as i could not get my head around using a brush that held onto the dirt (flocked) -

i use dual trim mono's with fan jets so i mostly now rinse on the window - its quick! - but good high water flow.

i use a bentley ( with trimmed bristles ) for conny's - cladding - etc.

rinse off with a flocked mate.

the flocked double trim brush you have got daz in my opinion is fine for rinsing on the glass personaly i find them much better than monafilament brushes for removing bird muck.

Hi Daz

I've been using the super lite dual trim flocked brush for months now - it's brilliant.  Also have a dual trim mono - also a good brush but not suitable for leaded as the bristles tend to judder over the lead.  I think this is because of the angle of the spread.  The flocked goes over leaded windows like a dream.

The new improved full trim mono superlite brush is quite good at scrubbing bird excretement (better than the previous version) but lousy at retaining it's shape with regards the bristles. Had mine probably a month and already it's so deformed, it's unreal. Value for money, I don't think so Tucker brush cost £60 roughly but would outlast 10 gardiners brushes at £30 a time.

Old gardiners brushes Mk 2's were the best.

Trouble with gardiners site is they modify a lot of equipment, not always for the better, just like their Mk 1 SL-X poles better wearing than the MK 2 & 3 Versions and more rigid.

Why improve on a model if the latest versions are actually worse than the originals >:(

I agree the tuckers last much longer,.. but they are a lot heavier. Personally I think its (just) worth the trade off.

i`ve always used the supa lite mono. got a new pole from brodex on monday with their 10" brush fitted and i hate the brush. i think the supa lite brushes are good but also i think we get used to a particular.
