wfp is a skill
« on: June 21, 2010, 07:46:45 am »
after all the comments on quality, speed ,people not getting on with it. i would just like to say that wfp is a skill that has to be mastered to get 100% results. also trad is a skill which i cannot do very well or fast and believe people are not good at everything.
people not mastering either is what gives both systems a bad name and if they cannot do it find something else to wreck like plumbing or cowboy building instead.

I regard it as a knack rather than a skill myself.
The funny thing is that if someone makes a bad job with WFP, it seems to give the method a bad name whereas if someone makes a bad job with a squeegee, it only gives the operator a bad name.  I've never yet had someone say to me that they don't want me to use a squeegee because someone else did a bad job with one.

the problem i see with wfp is that most people dont spend long enough on first cleans, to get the results,  you read on here people saying miss bits off as this will stop dirt running down,  why not just wash it all and wait a lot think that as soon as they get wfp they only have to spend half the time on it and it will be fine,  plus a lot try and do the same amount of work they did when they was trad, rather than spreading out the work and getting it right

a skill?ha ha dont make me laugh!!!

It's not funny.

Of course it's a skill.

Alan Sugar just has a knack for pulling off business deals.

David Beckham just has the knack for sending in diagonal balls.

Steve Jobs just has the knack for polishing turds.

I just have the knack for cleaning windies!

I'll give you the fact that it is quicker to pick up than the squeegee. But it takes as long if not longer to master.

I'm not just talking cleaning the window, I mean making the whole thing work and make money.

Yes there is definitely a skill if there was not and if it was so easy then why did birdymiller and danny go back to trad
 ::)

A lot of people think you just brush the window and rinse and then go way, This is true on about 90% of windows but there are windows that spot windows that leak in and so forth this is where the skill comes in,  :D

karygate can I say that a true WC can use both tools  ;D

But the things that David Beckham and Alan Sugar do are beyond the abilities of most people who would try them.  Using WFP well is something most semi-fit people can do.

Good point  ;D

When I said that there is a skill involved I did not mean that only a few would learn to master it  ::) How many people drive cars  ::) Would you say the person that has never driven that you just get into a car and away you go. No it takes time to master it and most people can achieve it

The same with WFP if only a few could learn how to use it then the WFP suppliers would be out of work very quickly, But thats not to say there is no skill, How many times have you read that there is a learning curve

why is there a learning curve to a tool that need No skill  ::)

Life is a learning curve, are you skillful in that?

I think WFP is something we become proficient at with time and practise, doesn't make it a skill though. Sweeping pavements isnt skillful how ever many years youve done it.

Very few people Master driving.

Fortunately I AM THE STIG  :)

I employ 10 guys.

Trust me when I tell you that 2 or 3 of them have mastered the skill of WFP.

The others are very good too, don't get me wrong, very few complaints, reasonable takings. They just have not mastered the skill.
