I believe that they fill part of the market place where customers who buy carpet for £50 won't pay £50 to have it cleaned, okay some customers who have more expensive carpets may have it cleaned for £9 but most will think it's either too good to be true or may ask what they may get for their money or what may happen with a cheap clean!! most people aren't that daft, it may dilute the price you ask but if you want to get a better price you do have to work for it.

What we percieve as clean isn't what others are, I don't know what some peoples and cleaners expectations are, if you never cleaned carpets before and never had training and never used professional chemical, techniques and machinery what have you got to compare with apart from price.

how about just telling us all ;) ;)
Mike, without going into details, my E mails have been perused and my telephone conversations have been compromised when I use certain key words connected to  the 9/11 situation(yeah I know, you couldn't make it up, but I've proven it to all my skeptic friends and they now accept it) so , I can tell you how it's done, you have my 'phone number, all you have to do is call and I'll tell you how. Neil rang , and now he knows. Mike  :-X

I've got the flier in front of me now and I'll type it out:
Minimum order value £9
All work carried out by skilled operators using the latest equipment
Fully insured
Furniture removed and replaced
Drying time kept to a minimum
Choice of Stainguards, Deodorisers & Stain removers on request

And there we have it.....They'll tell you the carpet could do with being protected and deodorised. Then they'll point out some "Stubborn stains" that will only come out with their new super duper microblast stain remover.

All this of course will be extra ;)

If a custy wants to pay £9 they expect a 'Primark' job, but if they want a 'Marks & Spencer' job they will pay extra.

Same thing, different label

***Pikey Alert - Pikey Alert***

Called the number 01252 400555 and the number doesn't exist ;D
Tried the mobile number on the flier and that just went to voice mail.
Add that to 'in your area for the next two weeks' and what have you got.....trouble

I have personally helped a couple of guys start up over the last 10 years because they had the bare faced cheek to phone and ask. True competition is not always good but good competition is. They charge similar prices, are well trained and my turnover & growth has not been affected. I told them the truth, training, equipment and offered on going help. One fell by the wayside but the other has built a successful business and we often bump into each other and he always says' thanks and I consider him a friend. We even help each other out when needed. I would rather have quality competition rather than a bucket and chuck it giving us all a bad name.

my point is that those complaining that they are cowboys should be grateful as at least there is less direct competition, if they read this thread and decide that everyone here is right and that they should now rethink their business and start again as a professional carpet cleaner, then they are direct competitors.
