deposits on jobs
« on: August 29, 2005, 05:24:25 pm »
hello everyone!
Does anyone charge a deposit on the jobs that they do for instance office, builders cleans and domestic? I have been scouting around and found that in london especially companies are charging as much as 50% as deposit. Is this outragous? Or not, surly this scares away business.
I wanted to put out a poll but can't seem to find the button..lol. If this topic is of any interest to anyone maybe they can find the poll button. cheers Sonya :-*

HI Sonya,

I don’t charge commercial clients a deposit or builders cleans (unless it is a small unknown company).

The only time I will charge a deposit, is on a domestic clean and then I only charge, if I feel they are not likely to pay.

One example, was four weeks ago, I received a call from a couple who where ending their tenancy and where moving to Spain. The clean would take place after their move. My terms for this where, 50% deposit up front and confirmation from their estate agents, that the estate agents would settle the balance (out of their security deposit).

I did not get the clean, but that did not bother me, because I was sure they had every intention of not paying.

Hope this helps.

Andrew

Thanks Andrew for replying. It's amazing to see so many companies in London asking for deposits. There must be a serious trust issue across London. cheers Sonya..
