Rug Doctor Advert
« on: August 28, 2005, 02:30:05 pm »
I'm in the Meridian TV region and was surprised yesterday to see an advert for Rug Doctor. They really did make it sound an excellent machine, easy to use yourself and cheap.

Just goes to show, 90% marketing, 10% product.

I do machine hire too! but usually when I deliver the machine to the address and see the state of the carpet  to be cleaned, am I glad they are renting and not wanting me to do it!!!!the thing that amazes me is the fact that the people with the most dirty carpets are the ones who expect to pay the least to get it cleaned!!! I would say that the rental customers are really from a different league to those people who want thier carpets profesionally cleaned!thank god!!!! ;D

John,

I did hire out my old Rug Doctor on an ad hoc basis, but if I were to do it properly
besides a Pact test would I need to adjust my insurance policy.

Do you charge more than Rug Doctor as you deliver and provide training.

I charge £30 for 24 hours rental but it's not a huge market sometimes you can go for a week or more with no rentals ???

Not over worried as machine is earning  nothing.

So extra £30  a week not bad.

Anyone know the answer on the insurance issue when you hire out or do you not require any as you are not doing the job.

You will need insurance to hire your machine out. If it blows up or someone gets an electric shock you COULD be sued.

The only doctor you should be seeing is the one at your local hospital, possibly the worst carpet cleaner i have ever used!
