quoting/invoices and itemisation
« on: August 27, 2005, 02:29:41 pm »
Hi
I have a general invoice/quote book, duplicate.

when i am quoting a job, do i need to itemise?
for example
say on it
2 cleaners, 2hrs total work, cleaning offices, 29th aug.

Price to inclue
bank hol call out charge £35
Travel exp £20
Labor/services £25

is this all i need to write on a quotation?
If it is one off work, when should i be asking to be paid? on the day or within 7?

Once the work is done, should i then write up the invoice, (i'll make my own on pc, with all services, costs etc?

I'm inclined not to break down the costs, just the work required and then the final price.

Any ideas?

Hi Lisa!

Itemising is a good idea, that way there should be no misunderstandings, plus customer will have a good idea on your prices should any further one-offs arise, providing they aren't too far into the future in which case your prices may change anyway.

With one-offs I state payment on completion of job!

anyone with facebook can add me at this link ...  jan 'minkeedj' kindon  .... if you can be bothered lol

Do not itemise on quotation unless it is a medium / big job (eg: 5-10 cleaners 2hrs per day 52 weeks).  Then a costing sheet should be produced.

On small jobs and one off works the client does not need to know your costings, just give a price for the job.  Don't quote the amount of hours either, you may get the job completed alot quicker than you think.

Most companys work on 30 day invoicing but you decide on your payment terms, whatever you decide ensure you speak with the client about your payment terms before you carry out the work.
