Have you ever cleaned with a 3 vacs in-series set-up Bob? I have, in fact I've connected 2 ninjas up in series so a 4-vac system. It's wasting the power of the vacuum motors! It doesn't perform any better than 2 vacs. The ratio of lift to airflow is way out.
The problem with portables isn't the amount of lift created by putting motors in line.. 2 is plenty. The problem is airflow!
Over the last year or two before I got my TM I regularly used two Ninjas in parallel on bigger jobs. The extra 10 minutes messing round with the 2nd machine was more than worth it.
I've used twin-vac machines in series and parallel and I reckon there really isn't much between them in performance, in fact 2 vac in series works better because the lift available in parallel isn't enough, despite the extra airflow. But the 2 Ninjas side by side really kicks the ass of any single machine, just a shame it's so much faffing around.
Unfortunately I've never actually worked with a 3-vac machine so can't compare.
