Does anyone have a copy of an Insurance Letter I could see. Custy phoned saying she spilt oil on carpet, and then rubbed it so much, she put a hole in the carpet, and that she may also have damaged the underlay. After picking up the phone (and me) she explained the insurance company were looking for a letter to say the carpet was a rightoff. Don`t know how she can claim when it was her neglegence that caused it. seamed like easy money, or am I missing something?

You need to visit and photograph the damage. Then simply explain what has happened and the result being that the carpet is beyond economic restoration. For this you need to collect about 50 quid from the customer. That will count as her excess payment usually. Don't fall for the old chestnut that the insurance company will pay you. They may well but it will be in at least 6 months.
