Hi,i have commercial office job coming up,
the carpets are low profile and glued down.
Is it safe to use HWE or can it affect the glue,
my portable goes to about 110 degrees c,would i need to turn it down.
The carpets are not that bad and LM would probably do the job,
but i have only had a little go on a rotary,
so i will probably forget bonnet cleaning for now.
If i clean it with HWE,
is there a big chance of wick back,
or do you think it will be ok with plenty of fans on it.cheers.

Bonneting would probably be your best option however you can use HWE on clued down carpets tiles.  We have done loads of them with porties & truckmounts at all different water temps so i dont think you will have a problem. As for wick back this would only normally happen if the tiles take a long time to dry. As when cleaning any type of carpet....keep moisture to the lowest amount possible.  If you have any fans then take them with you but dont go out your way and buy any as you shouldnt have a problem.  Also, to give you a chance of getting used to using a rotary it would be a idea to HWE the carpets, do about 30 square metres then go over it with a bonnet.  This will aid the drying process and give you valuable practise time on the rotary.

Thanks richie,when you say bonnet after HWE,would i still have to wet and ring out bonnets as i was taught or would the carpets be damp enough after HWE (i'm just woried about swirl marks ect)and should i add a little MS to the water thats used to ring out the bonnets or is that over-kill.cheers.

I would give it a go with the l m after, just to collect any more dirt that has wicked back to the top of the carpet after hwe,the carpets will still be damp and keep the machine moving with some good quality pads and if you find any resistance the pad might need some moisture on it.

I have had this answered before but at my age I tend to be forgetful,but why is there a chance of wick back on this type of carpet?

I think it depends on soilage, if it's really bad and requires HWE then you could use a teflon glide which increases airflow then post buff but this takes longer and will cost the customer more, you could bonnet clean parts and HWE the heavily soiled bits but to improve drying to avoid wicking I would post bonnet.

If you clean say....30 - 50 square metres of carpet using HWE you can then go over the same area with a bonnet without the need to wet it as the moisture in the carpet will prevent problems arising from been to dry.

Thanks for the advice chaps,the job is about 2000sqft or 185sqm.
How many bonnets do you think i will need to post bonnet after HWE.

Depends what type of bonnets but i wouldnt use more than two on a job that size to post bonnet.
