I use one on heavily soiled carpets and find it really makes a difference. It also acts as a great pile lifter. However it is pretty heavy to carry around (when in use it's not heavy because it's on wheels) and find that most of the time the carpet wand is good enough. That said I'm glad I bought mine and it makes the extra difference when required.

have never used the rotovac so cant comment on that, but was wondering how they compare to the extracta scrubba tool according to alltec there much better and cheaper would be interesting to hear from anyone who has used both

I,ve used a scrubber deluxe, and the super scrubba, but the rotovac outcleans the both of them on dirty carpets...but uses loads more water. ;D

I use mine with a T/M so I notice the water tank going down much quicker than with a wand, the rotovac has six jets, so if I had a six jet wand that would be the same! once you get the hang of the roto vac and set the right height  to the carpet it will be fine, just do a couple of dry passes if needed. :)
