Cleaned a few blocks of flats, communal areas, and the stairs were hard work. Used hwe. Same factors asked for quotes a while back and want another site cleaned. What else could I use to do the stairs?  Minitex, springs to mind, and fancy using encap solution as well, or maybe fusion clean. Only problem being the rubber strip on the stairs.Any other methods I can`t think of?

An Oreck Orbiter and wringer bucket. It would be less back breaking than a Minitex.

Hi,

In my experience of communal stairs they lay corded nylon that is a real pain to clean with anything other than HWE.  What type of carpet is it, it really makes the decision for you.  Its like 20x more important than anything else. Best method to clean a carpet really depends on the carpet >>>> soiling or use > chems etc.

If they have laid tat like corded nylon, you wont do much with any kind of LM approach in my experience (unless you can sell)

Its not the dreaded cord tat, and is not too dirty, in my opinion, so was moving away from hwe.

Ive used it on 3x7 flights of stairs in Guild Hall in Glasgow and in a few domestics and it has been fine.

Just Prowlered / Ultra pacd 14 flights of 14 each with 3m mid landings, included 7 communal areas -  HWE def a good workout but gets a mint result - took around 6 hours with a bucket boy hose handler...

Did the risers with a grooming tool as werent too bad.

Under no circumstances should you ever get a 4 way plumbers key, and tap into the rising main feeds next to the residents individual meters on most landings, using a piece of hose pushed over the bleed point. Don't get an FB1 or FB2 key avaialable for any decent locksmiths, which fit many such meter cupboards.

If you do the above, make very sure that the supply you tap into is not feeding into a shower being used by a steroid fed pyscho bouncer, because the change in water pressure may just make the water go red hot and then you have to run for life.

I came across them in Thamesmead, a lovely part of South East London where English is still spoken occasionally.

As a general rule most parts of the country that have hot and cold running water have also got meter cupboards, did you say you are from the North? That may explain your confusion.

Not used one but have in the past considered one of those contractors stand pipes which connect to mains water under most paths etc they are around £150ish?  Not sure of legalities as to using them tho it was an idea of a firefighter in the family when I was pressure washing.  Cant you get access to the "cleaners cupboard" where there is usually a high tap and sink setup.  I always ask at quote stage for access key.
