The one I have at the moment I have a built in form where custy has to fill in:

Drop down menu for preferred contact method - Phone - E mail

Name:

Tel No:

House number and street:

Postcode:

Email address:

How did you find us:

Then a blank box for the the enquirey !!

Looking at it now, it seems an awful lot of info to fill in, plus theres the annoying spam filter letters and numbers at the bottom, think its time for a rethink.

What do you have that works very effectively on your websites contact us page ?

I'm sure there must be some better suggestions, so what's working best for you ?

Cheers

Paul

Hi

Slightly off topic do you think your enquirers are emailing another 2 or 3 companies.

Hi

some probably are, some probably aren't. odd question ???

simple and easy is the king with forms, and even better if the form can be sent using ajax so that it's all done without having to move from the page.

drop the how did you find us field imo and install a script to tell you this for every visitor, not just the ones who tell you. then also remove the captcha and see how it goes. if you get a lot of spam try a simpler way to reduce spam, e.g. 1+1 = __? i don't have anything on my forms and never get automated spam from the contact form, just spam through people using my email address.

do you need first line of address on contact form? i can understand postcode so you can ignore if it's out of your area, but 1st line can be a bit long and something you can ask when you call to confirm.

can't really remove any more then that. if email is compulsory then i suggest making it optional as rarley should it be required.

hope this helps

I take it you market to all prospects even if you don't get the job? Are all the fields in the contact form set to must be filled out?

If you are going this road then offer some kind of incentive, plus have a 0800 number. its a fact that prospects will look for a local number but some will call a free one. its best having both.

with regards to your other problems. the only way to win is by having a market advantage. my suggestion is out market them. this will cost money that you might not have. call me and i will tell you how you can do this.

Good luck

I have a simple box form on the left of my home page just asking for Name, Email, Postcode and a job description. Short and sweet but works quite well. Only one cust filling in "beauty tharapist" in the job description!
