« on: May 29, 2010, 11:07:52 am »
Was looking back at the early pages of the forum and some of the names that have dissapeard is quite sad, people who gave good advice, I think Mike Halliday is the only one who has given us his advice from day one on a regular basis, so are these lot still cleaning?- MARK BETTS, STEVE GUNN, HOLMANS UK,PAUL CHAMBERS, LEE GUNDRY and PHIL MARLOUR ???

There are many others.......most are to be found elsewhere........some are possibly spending their time developing their businesses...........some got involved in arguments and moved sideways.........a few got older and retired.
Some have been swayed by personalities to follow other approaches only to discover there's nothing new and it's all been done before. Sometimes for decades.
This is still a good place

Steve Gunn is still going strong in the carpet cleaning world.
He did a job in my street not so long back (the cheek of it) operating from a truckmount.
Guess he's so busy he aint got time to come on here  ;)

I think Mark betts became a photographer, phil I not sure. Steve is still a successful carpet cleaner and post now & again on the CCDO & truckmount forums.

I think people tend to get bored with the forums after a bit, they do tend to get repetitive with most question could be answered with the search function..

I think you're right Mike, but asking the questions and getting everyone involved is better than doing a search and keeps the forum going and when you do search you somtimes have to trall through a load of drivel before you find your answer. I've been on a few carpet cleaning foums and have found this one to be the best, but never been on the truckmount one as i have an Alltec porty.
I know as has been said some people get the ump- Chris Straker being one, but he's still carpet cleaning I see him about on facebook.

Nick Holmans still going strong as well. They probably have better things to do than waste time on here.

I think Steve's still dumbstruck (and keyboard struck) that Sunderland managed to stay in the Premiership for another season  ;D everyone else up here is!

If that doesn't get a reaction from him then he's probably dead!

So only Mark Betts has changed jobs that we know of, but no news on some of them, Steve Gunn still seems to be pretty well known though lots of comments about him.

Nick had the memorable signature of
"Good at Darts, carp at speling"   ;D
If there isn't enough time to do the job right,  how do we find the time to go back and do it again when the customer is not happy ?   Do it right the 1st Time.

If they've got any sense they'll have broken the addiction.

Craig Partridge bought it but I think it's gone elsewhere again, last time I spoke to John he'd officially retired and moved to nearer Leeds.

How you going on with your van? one of my customers saw it when you must have been at your 'other' residence and thought I had expanded to 2 vans.

I think carpet cleaning is a tribal thing.

I have observed it over the past ten years.
