Pricing prejudging ... learning from it.
« on: May 26, 2010, 04:52:31 pm »
Was asked by a friend to go and price the local vicars mothers house .. little out of the way but nice drive out and spotted a few more houses to go canvass on the journey ... anyways gets to the house nice 4 bedder with 10 windows and 2 patio doors thought £15 cos of travel time but the words £12 came out of my mouth (think cos it was the vicars mother) ... she sort of looked at me funny, immediate thought was she was expecting £6 or summit like that ... she said "sonny youve got the job, the last one charged me £15.

Result in the end though she took a handful of flyers and promised to hassle the neighbours for me and said she will tell  them I am charging her £15 (which she said if shes happy with my work then she will give me the £15)

Lesson I learnt is to stick with price what I first think  :)

when i first started i got invited to quote a  c****ee takeaway . they needed windows in and out ,plus the fancy wooden blinds ,all fortnightly .

i sortof fancied the manageress  and stupidly said i will do it for £4

LUCKILY FOR ME, my price was way too high and i was rejected out of turn !

I've found myself doing that a few times, since the recession, always regretted it though, oh for the happy days a coupla years back, of quoting a few quid extra cos I had too much work..
