tradding with pure water
« on: May 25, 2010, 08:17:04 pm »
Have read a few posts on here regarding tradding using pure water with whatever you prefer added to it i.e fairy,gg3,gg4,etc etc. So this is what i have been doing, with very good results (few times i have tradded!). Was just wondering if using pure water actually makes a difference to using tap water?

I suppose it depends on your tds too.

i'm wfp , but any trad work i use pure water, from my van tank, not sure if its better , you certainly use less detergent as pure water is very soft.

Yep, defo noticed a difference since using my pure water when trading.

less gg3/squeegee off used and seems less detailing required

unless i'm improving my technique  :-\

im trad only ,and the waters so hard its horrible here. by chance i used some rainwater the other day from a country butt and it was ace, great glide and for once i had bubbles in my bucket .

im now thinking of buying my own rainwater butt, only trouble is it never hardly rains here on the coast .  anybody know if i filled the rainwater butt up from my tap hard water and added a bag of watersoftener tablets, would it work ? or if i just left the water stand a few months would it soften up on its own?

Hardly rains? What coast are you on? The Arabian Gulf  ;D.
Buy a cheap RO or get some water off a wfp user.

For the amount you are going to use trad just a domestic water filter would do, to start with anyway Then a little DI unit later when you get more confident about it. But once you get your hands on that pure water you will start to build a WFP system.

Apart from the difference in the amount of Fairy I use, I can't see any difference in tradding with pure water or tap water; none at all.  My tap water is about TDS 150.

I can't see any point whatsoever in tradding with pure water. You could clean glass with puddle water provided you squeegie it off. In fact a lot of the puddles around my way are cleaner than the water in a trad cleaners bucket at the end of a row of houses.
