PW efficiency
« on: May 25, 2010, 03:35:44 pm »
I went to do a Pizza Hut restaurant carpet early this morning (6am best part of the day IMO) anyway when I had finished I was asked about PW the surrounding pavement and block paving outside, now I've done PW with Mick H and get a good idea of how long it would take me but I was wondering if there was a way of increasing efficiency with a big flow machine with a double jetted lance?

I noticed on the forsale section that there was a PW brush and was thinking of something low to the ground but with real power but as a one man set up?

The brush is low pressure for rinsing crap away.  You need a flat surface cleaner, lance and turbo, as well as 13 ltr a min 3000 psi machine.  Job done.

I was wanting something on the lines of 2 turbo lances strapped together or simular, the job if I take it on is time restrictive, the last cleaner couldn't start 8.30 because of location and deliveries also have to be finished for 10.30 (their restrictions not mine)

use 2 machine & 2 men, a twin turbo lance might clean quicker but its the washing away & rinsing down afterwards that takes time.

or split into sections and on it on consecutive days

I originally thought of the 2 men with 2 machines, didn't want to do 2 days, I guess what I'm looking for is special tooling and a PW to keep up the flow probably like a jetter?

One man, one machine van mounted would do that in about 3 hours (absolute maximum).

Why are truckmount carpet cleaners so expensive? ;D
Same reasons I guess.

Sorry Shaun, I meant that the reasons van mounted setups are so expensive is for mainly the same reasons truckmounted carpet cleaners are so expensive, they are quicker, better and a dedicated piece of kit for the job at hand.

My setup was over £10k more than 6 years ago and was worth every penny.
It is still running fine and has earned me a few quid in that time.

Hope this helps.

It is not one single piece of kit.

I may be able to find the original spec of all of the kit, but it is a while since I have seen it.

John Kelly has some decent kit on his site, worth speaking to him about this.

Let me know if I can help Shaun.

Stop counting your money for a bit and find me something that's like it for poor Shaun.

Shaun check with your public lia insurance that you are covered for PW as most carpet cleaning policies exclude it.

Thanks will do, if I do go into it just an enquiry atm but I do get asked alot, bit long in the tooth to fall for the 'I could get you all of the sites' speach but if you start with one then I'd probably get my own customers the only trouble is I have loads of carpet cleaning work.

99, 100... sorry got carried away there!

God you're demanding!!!!!

This pressure washer would do (mine has a Honda engine but Loncin is good too)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/13-HP-LONCIN-ENGINE-PETROL-PRESSURE-WASHER-3000-PSI-/330430668812?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item4cef33e00c

I have this flat surface cleaner - covers a lot of ground quickly with little overspray
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/18-inch-whirlaway-rotary-flat-surface-cleaner-/180510137641?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item2a073e1d29

You would need other extras but this would start you off.

You would need a lance too of course but turbo nozzle would not be the best for this job really as the mess you would make would be a nightmare for customers of the premises.

Hope this helps (yer lazy git).

The more you fill your mattress the less lumpy it will be!

Thanks
