Also found part of my snapped coil spring,stuck in the front strut ,and pointing out towards my tyre !!! Very luck that it didn`t go through,and send me off the road !

Round here, north Cheshire the price of petrol and diesel fell over the weekend.

Reg diesel is £123.9,i know i chopped it off,but people were looking at me funny !! I have to use the expensive stuff in the Scirocco,and getting about 85 miles out of £18,  .Had to postpone my Brighton trip,as my wife is broke.

My coil spring broke on friday,i new something was wrong when my trye set on fire on the motorway.  .I managed to get it to the garage and he said about £160 for a new spring,tyre and labour,then he rings later says the strut is shafted aswell,that will be £220 please.Never mind at least i'm still here,if that tyre had burst at 70mph on the motorway(which it was close to doing) i would have been in deep doo-doo.Why do these things happen when you are snowed under with work.

I do Joe  But can`t complain really as the smiles per mile are higher in that than anything else ! Well apart from approaching a horse at nigh on 90 mph,on a country road last week,hung me head in shame at that,and nearly bought myself some very expensive steaks !
I am lucky in the fact that v dubs get tinkered with a lot,ie changing suspension for coil overs etc,so should be able to pick up some good 2nd hand ones,not in any big rush ,as it feels fine still

Didn't you get the e-mail going around the country about avoiding BP and Esso, which if everyone did that would cause them to drop their prices which in turn would make the others do the same.

As it is, it is frustrating that prices vary so much across the country. Currently around here in North Hampshire it about £1.26 yet the other week when we went to South Wales it was nelow £1.20. If you convert that difference into old money (ie gallons) there would have been uproar about such a difference in price.

Yes very frustrating !! I can only get £18 in the roc,as it only has a small tank,so wouldn`t be worth my going somewhere else for cheaper fuel as i would use it all on the way back home.
No didn`t get that e-mail,only reason i stopped there was because i was running very very low,and wanted an almond croissant for brek

No Clinton,i have a vw caddy van, i was moaning about the spring breaking,i am still using it,it`s just today i decided to investigate the knock on full lock,and found the broken pig tail pointing towards the tyre !!

That is fuel for van and roc,i get about 180 miles out of £20 in the van,but that is getting less as £20 don`t buy much !!

I tend to avoid BP, Esso, Total, Texaco and small outlets due to the fact that they are more often than not more expensive by 3p - 6p per litre than the likes of Shell, Jet, Morrisons, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's.

Do the shopping at Tescos, spend >£50 and you get a voucher for 5p off a litre. Did this last week and had £3.50 deducted from my diesel bill

Vans are not racing cars, so drive accordingly, smooth and in appropriate gears with a light throttle. Obey speed limits. Quick get aways gobble fuel like a thirsty Richie in a vat of Creme de Menthe

Be aware of your fuel in tank at all times and plan your fill up stops to coincide when you are passing near to your preferred supplier.

It's a fact of modern living that fuel is, and will continue to be, expensive.  Can't do nothing about it so why worry? Just charge realistic prices that will cover ALL business expenses.

A tank full lasts me 5 weeks, 4 weeks if I'm unlucky

Mind you we were earning £5 a week so its all to scale.
