Tile & Grout Cleaning
« on: May 17, 2010, 01:38:18 pm »
I really want to get in to this but have no experience at all. I know I need to go on a course cos thats the sensible option.

So the best one I could find was the one at alltec - who have 25% off at the moment. I have heard Keith Robertson is the best, so it looks like I will book it as they still have places for the one next week. http://www.alltec.co.uk/page/1kd5o/Training_Schools/Stone_Masonry_Tile_Cleaning.html

I think Derek West is going on that one? Anyway, is this the best thing to do? as I like the look of it.

Would appreciate some sensible replies from you experienced stoners out there!

Thanks

Mark

I did the same course last year Mark, very technical - but Keith really knows his stuff so you will enjoy it.

Derek's going and Kev Loomes so you will be in good company.

Have a look at these people. They do a great course and sell all the stuff, right by Woodbridge machines near Harlow. Bear in mind half the battle is marketing the job afterwards!

The most poignant part of thee Alltec link you mention is:-
"
Think about it ...
almost every carpet cleaning job you go to nowadays you will have to walk over some type of hardfloor just to get to the carpet"

Think about this:-

Every domestic client of yours - hasn't got a clue how to maintain a tile/stone floor long term

Every commercial client of yours relies on their general cleaners to maintain their tile/stone floors for them - and alas most of them haven't got a clue

Am sure the Alltec course will be a good initial intro into this world - potential drawback - Derek is there to cause major distraction    He'll want to clean all with his pressure washer set up ;) ;)

Interesting you should mention that Derek

A number of years ago whilst cleaning an office ( carpet tiles) - I'd brought in a fellow t/mer to help me and we came across a number of stained areas where we just couldn't seem to shift the marks.  His approach was - b..gger this & he prised the offending tiles from the floor - lined them up against the wall outside & blasted them at 3000psi.   Stains vanished ???   Brute force does the trick sometimes
